What's Happening This Week----February 19th Through February 23rd

I appreciate  and want to thank everyone for all the nice gifts and cards that I have received for Christmas, Teacher Appreciation Day and Valentine's Day.  Each and every gift and card was so nice. Everyone is so kind and thoughtful. 

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Bb" makes----keyword----balloon.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Uu" makes----keyword----umbrella.   The students will learn that the letter "Uu" is a vowel letter.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will read the phonics booklet----"The Big Trip".  The students will also be reading phonics words. The students will be reading "Bb" and "Uu" words.
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Bb" and "Uu".  The students will also be printing phonics words.
Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Tally Marks, "Tally Charts" and "Picture Graphs".  The Students will also continue their printing of numbers.
Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "We Belong to the Church".
Science----The Kindergarten students will continue learning about "Weather" and "Seasons". The  students will also learn about "Measuring Weather".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will  continue learning about the long "Ee" sound---"ee" as in see, "ea" as in read and "e" as in we.
Reading----The First Grade students will be read the stories----"The Fox and the Stork" and "A Bed Full of Cats".  The booklets----"A Load of Stuff" and "Patch's Treat", will also be read.  A Long "Ee" booklet will be read.
English----The First Grade students will continue to learn about the "Verb and Subject Agreement" of the words----was and were.  Then, the students will learn about "Contractions".
Spelling----The First Grade students will continue to learn about ":Words With the Long "Ee" Sound".  Then, the students will be doing a review unit.
Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Subtraction".

Social Studies----The students will continue to learn about "George Washington",  Then, the students will learn about "Susan B. Anthony".

Story Time----Everyone is enjoying listening to stories from the "Bible".

What's Happening This Week----February 12th Through February 16th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Bb" makes----keyword----balloon..  The students will learn that the letter "Bb" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the following "Bb" words:  bib, bat, bag, big, ban and bass.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Rr", "Kk" and "Bb".  The students will also be printing phonics words.

Math----The Kindergarten students will "Identify and Write Numbers 19 and 20".  The students will be writing numbers from 1-20.  The students will also be "Comparing Items by "Size, Length and Height".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will be learning about "Lent". During "Lent" we pray, act as Jesus did and care for others.

Science----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of our Earth's "Natural Resources."  Then, the students will learn about "Weather".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will be learning the Long "Oo" sound as the "ow" as in the words bow and row; and the "oa" as in the words boat and soap.

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"Friends Forever", "The Fox and the Stork".  The booklet----"A Jumping Pet" will also be read.  Then, a booklet containing "Long Oo" words will be read.

English----The First Grade students will learn that the verb "is" is used in a sentence when the noun names one and the verb "are" is used in a sentence when the noun names more than one.  Then, the students will learn about the verb "was" which is used in a sentence when the noun names one.    Also, the students will learn that the verb "were" is used in a sentence when the noun names more than one.

Spelling----The First Grade students will continue their study of words with the "Long Oo" words.  The "Long Oo" words are:  go, home, rope, so, joke, bone, hole, no, stove and poke.  The Challenge Words are:  hello and alone.  Then, the students will learn spelling words that contain the "Long Ee" sound.  The "Long Ee" spelling words are:  he, see, she, tree, me, feet, we, be, green and peek.  The Challenge Words will be:  three and street.

Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Subtraction".  The students will also learn about "Related Subtraction Facts" and "Related Addition and Subtraction Facts" and "Fact Families".

Social Studies----The students will continue their study of "Abraham Lincoln".  Then, the students will learn about "George Washington"

Crafts----The crafts this week will be around the "Valentine Theme" and "Abraham Lincoln" and "George Washington".

What's Happening This Week----February 5th Through February 9th

I want to thank everyone for all the nice teacher appreciation cards and gifts that I received on "Teacher Appreciation" Day.  What nice thoughtful cards and gifts!

Kindergarten
Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Kk" makes----keyword----kite.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Bb" makes----keyword----balloon.  The students will learn that the letters "Kk" and "Bb" are both consonant letters.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the phonics booklet----"Frog Ran". The students will be reading some "Kk" and "Bb" words,  The "Kk" words to be read will be:  kit, kiss, kin and ask.  Some "Bb" words to be read will be:  bib, bat, bag, big, ban and bass.
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Kk" and "Bb".  The students will also be printing phonics words and their first and last name.
Math----The Kindergarten students will learn to "Identify and Write the Numbers 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20".  The students will also learn to "Compare Numbers----less than, equal to or greater than".  The students will learn to "Compare by Size".
Religion----In Chapter 19, the Kindergarten students will learn that "Jesus Wants Us to Love".
Science----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of our Earth's "Natural Resources----Water, Soil and Rocks". 

First Grade
Reading----The First Grade students will read the story "Friend's Forever" and the booklet----"A Jumping Pet".  Then, the students will read the story "Yhe Fox and the Stork" and the booklet----"A Load of Stuff".  A Long "Ii" booklet will also be read.
Phonics----The First grade students will be learning about the "Long "Ii" Sound, the sound of the "Final Syllables "dle" and "gle", the sound of "ow" as in the word "low" and the sound of "oa" as in the words "road" and "soap".
English----The First Grade students will continue to learn about the "Pronoun {subject} and Verb Agreement Rule".  Then, the students will learn about "Verbs With "ed"----Add "ed"to some verbs to tell about the past. 
Spelling----The First Grade students will continue their study of spelling words with the "Long Ii Sound".  Then, the students will learn spelling words with the "Long "Oo" Sound".  The "Long "Oo" spelling words are:  go, home, rope, so. joke, bone, hole, no, stove, poke, hello and alone.
Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Subtraction".

Social Studies----The students will learn about "Ground Hog Day" and "Abraham Lincoln".

What's Happening This Week----January 29th Through Febuary 2nd

The Kindergarten/ First Grade students will be decorating their own "Valentine Mail Bag" to use at the Classroom Valentine's Day Party.  The students may decorate their own Valentine Box at home, if they so desire, and use it at the Classroom Valentine's Day Party.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Rr" makes----keyword----rabbit.  The students will learn that the letter "Rr" is a consonant letter.  Then, the students will the sound that the letter "Kk" makes----keyword----kite.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will read the booklet-----"Frog Ran".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Rr" and "Kk".  The students will also be printing their first and last name and phonics words.

Math----The Kindergarten students will learn to "Identify and Write the Numbers 15 and 16".  Then, the students will learn to "Compare by Size and Length".

Religion----In Chapter 18, the Kindergarten students that "Jesus Teaches and Helps Us".

Science----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of "Natural Resources----Water, Soil and Rocks".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will continue reading the story---- "On the Way to the Pond".  Then, the students will read the booklet----"Let's Play".  Then, the students will read the story----"Friend's Forever".  The First Grade students will also read a book containing the "Long "Aa" Sound.
English----The First Grade student will learn about "Pronoun and Verb Agreement" and "Verbs with "ed" to tell about the past.
Spelling----The First Grade students will learn spelling words that contain the "Long "Ii" Sound".  This week's spelling words are:  time, like, kite, bike, white, five, drive, nine, hike and ride.  The Challenge Words are:  write and invite.
Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Subtraction".
Social Studies----The students will continue their study of our country's capital, Washington, D.C.

What's Happening This Week-----January 22nd Through January 26th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Ff" makes----keyword----fish.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Rr" makes----keyword----rabbit.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading color words.  The students will also be reading the following "Rr" words:  rip, ram, rag, rat. rot, rap, ran, trip, trim, trap, raft, ramp, grass and gram.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing their first and last name and phonics words.  The students will also be printing the letters "Ff" and "Rr".

Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning to "Identify and Write the Numbers 13 , 14, 15 and 16. 

Religion----In Chapter 17, the Kindergarten students will learn that "Jesus Grew Up in Nazareth".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Natural Resources"----"Rocks,, Water and Soil".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories-----"Tomas Rivera" and "On the Way to the Pond".  The booklet----"One Night" will also be read.

English----The First Grade students will be learning about "Noun and Verb Agreement" and "Pronoun and Verb Agreement".

Spelling----The First Grade students will be learning words that have the "Long "A" Sound.  The spelling words this week are :  came, make, brave. bake, take, name, late, gave, shape, game, parade and erase.  The Challenge Words are:  out, about and over.
Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Sides and Corners" and "Sorting Plane Figures".  Then, the students will start a unit on "Subtraction".
Social Studies----The students will learn about "Settlers" and "Sacajawea".
Crafts----The crafts , this week will center around the 100th Day of School, which will take place on Friday, January 26th.

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue the study of the sound that the letter "Ff" makes----keyword----fish. The students will learn that the letter "Ff: is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will read words that contain the letter "Ff".  The students will continue to read color words. 

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letter "Ff" and their first and last name.

Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning how to "Identify, Print and Count" 11 and 12 objects and how to "Equalize Sets".

Religion----In Chapter 16, the Kindergarten students will learn that "God the Father Gives Us Jesus (as a gift }".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about our "Night Sky" and "The Earth's Natural Resources".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the story "Tomas Rivera" and the booklet----"One Night".

Phonics----The First Grade students will be learning the sound of "wh" and "qu".

English----The First Grade students will learn about "Verbs" and "Noun and Verb Agreement" rule.

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn spelling words that contain the "wh" and "th" sounds.
The spelling words this week are:  that, with, which, path, when, this, them, bath, whip, then, think and where.  The Special Words this week are:  where, what and who.

Math----The First Grade will continue their study of "Money".  Then, the First Grade students will learn about "Open and Closed Figures" and "Sides and Corners".

Social Studies----The  students will continue learning about  Martin Luther King, Jr.

What's Happening This Week-----January 3rd Through January 5th

I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas.  I wish everyone a very happy new year.  I would like to thank everyone for making the Kindergarten/ First Grade Classroom Christmas Party so nice for the students.  
I received so many wonderful and thoughtful Christmas gifts.  I really want to thank everyone for thinking of me this Christmas . 

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue to learn about the sound that the letter "Ss" makes----keyword----sun. 
Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the following "Ss" words:  gas, sap, sit, sag, sip, sat, stop, spot, slot, spin, snip, slit, last, slat, gasp and slim.  The students will also read the booklet----"Stan's Pig's".
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letter "Ss".  The students will also be printing their first and last name and phonics words.
Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning about "Ordinal Number: First Through Tenth" and "Equalizing Sets".
Religion----In Chapter 15, the Kindergarten students will learn that "God Chooses Mary".
Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about the "Night Sky".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will read the story----"Did You See Chip?".  The students will also read the booklet----"Carmen Sells Stars".
English----The First Grade students will be reviewing "What a Sentence Is", "Naming and Action Parts of a Sentence", "Question Sentences" and the "Order of a Story----First, Next and Last".
Spelling----The First Grade students will learn "Words With "th" and "wh". This week's spelling words are:  that, with, which, path, when, this, them, bath, whip and then.  The Challenge Words are:  think and wheel.
Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Money".
Social Studies----The students will learn about "People With Great Ideas".
