What's Happening This Week----April 16th Through April 20th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Dd" makes----keyword----dog.  The letter "Dd" is a consonant letter.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Vv" makes----keyword----vest.  The students will learn that the letter "Vv" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the phonics booklet----"Gus the Duck",  "Ben is Ten" and phonics word lists.  The students will also be doing many phonics reading worksheets.  The "Vv" words to be read will be:  vet, van, vest and vent.  The "Sight Words" to be read will be:  you, into, one, help, ten, said, had, did, red, have and and.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Dd" and "Vv".  Phonics word sentence will also be printed.

Math----The Kindergarten students will continue to learn about "Addition" and in "Counting Money".  Then, the students will learn to "Tell Time to the Hour".

Religion----The Kindergarten will learn about "God's Greatest Gifts", "Family Fun", "Doing What Jesus Wants Us to Do" and "Choosing Good Choices " and "Taking the Right Path".

Science----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of "Magnets"  Then, the students will learn about "Matter".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the story "On the Job With Dr> Martha Smith".  Then, the students will read the story Little Bear's Friend".  The booklet----"A Dream to Fly"  will also be read.

English----The First Grade students will learn about "Exclamations", "Titles For People" and "Book Titles".

Spelling----This week's spelling words will be "Adding "Ss" to the end of the words.  This week's spelling words are:  jet, jets, frog, frogs, tail, tails, week, weeks, gate and gates.  The Challenge Words are:  wagon and wagons.  The Special Words are:  mother, father and more.

Math----The First Grade students will learn how to re-group in addition problems-----or "Carrying".

Social Studies----Everyone is reviewing "Manners".  For example, when asking for your milk at lunch say-----white please or may I have white please.  Then, when the milk is given to you say---thank-you.

What's Happening This Week-----April 9th Through April 13th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will learn the  sound that the letter "Dd" makes-----keyword-----dog.  The students will learn that the letter "Dd" is a consonant letter. 

Reading----The Kindergarten students will read "Dd" words.  The "Dd" words to be read will be:  dog, doll, disk, sad, desk, drum, had, slid, hid, mud, red, rid, stand, sand and and.  The Sight Words to be read will be:  you, into. one, ten, help, said, did and four. The students will be reading the booklets----"Zac the Rat" and "Ben is Ten".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letter "Dd" and phonics word sentences.

Math----The Kindergarten students will begin a unit on "Money".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will that "We Celebrate Jesus' Gift of Himself".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Changing How Things Move" and Magnets".  Then, the students will begin a unit on "Matter".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the story-----"On the Job With Dr. Martha Smith".

Spelling----The First Grade students will be doing a review unit of past learned spelling words.  Then, the students will learn spelling words that "Add 's' " to the end of the spelling word.  The "Add 's' " spelling words are:  jet, jets, frog, frogs, tail, tails, week, weeks, gate and gates.  The Challenge Words are:  wagon and wagons.  The Special Words are:  mother, father and more.

English----The First Grade students will be reviewing-----adjectives, sentence parts----the naming part and the action part, telling sentences and end marks, nouns and pronouns,  Then, the students will learn about "Writing Correct Sentences" and "Exclamations".

Math-----The First Grade students will learn about "Subtracting Two-Digit" Numbers".  Then, the students will learn about "Regrouping Tens and Ones".

Phonics----The First Grade students will be doing phonics worksheets.

What's Happening This Week----April 3rd Through April 6th

On Friday, April 6th, the Kindergarten/ First Grade Classroom will go on their classroom field trip.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Yy" makes----keyword----yarn.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Dd" makes----keyword----dog.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading "Yy" words and "Dd" words.  The students will also be reading the phonics booklet----"Ben is Ten".  The "Yy" words to be read will be:  yam, yak, yell, yap, yen, yes, yet and yelp.  The "Sight Words" to be read will be:  you, four, into, one, can, ten, help, said, and, did, and had.  The "Dd" words to be read will be:  do, doll, disk, sad, desk, drum, had, slid, hid, mud, red, rid, stand and sand.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Yy"and "Dd".

Math----The Kindergarten students will their study of "Addition".  Then, the students will begin their study of "Money".

Religion----In Chapter 27, the Kindergarten students will learn about "Easter".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Changing How Things Move" and "Magnets".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the story----"My Robot".  The students will also be reading the booklets----"My Family", "Surfer Girl" and "Car Race".  Then, the students will read the story----"On the Job With Dr. Martha Smith".

Spelling----In Unit 29, the students will learn words that are "Long "I" Spelled by "y".  The spelling words this week are:  my, why, try, sky, shy, dry, fly, by cry and fry.  The Challenge Words are:  type and myself.  The Special Words are:  down, every and because.

English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Opposites".  Then, the students will review past concepts that have been studied.

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Temperature" and "Adding Ones, Dimes and Tens".

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing a story about the "Three Seeds" and "The Beehive".

Social Studies----The students will learn about "Voting".

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Cc" makes----keyword----cat.  The students will learn that the letter "Cc" is a consonant letter. Then,  the Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Ee" makes----keyword----elephant.  The students will learn that the letter "Ee" is a vowel letter.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading word lists and the phonics booklet----"Ben is Ten".  Some of the "Ee" words the students will be reading are:  net, bell, leg, step, nest, mess, get, help, ten, tell, spell and rest.  The "Sight Words" to be read are:  into, four, but, one and from.
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Cc" and "Ee".  The students will also be printing phonics word sentences.
Math----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of "Addition".
Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn ,  in their "Growing in Love" Religion Book, that "We Are Made Like Jesus" and "We Are Made to be Together".  The, the Kindergarten students will learn about "Safety" by having the "Virtus" lessons.
Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Where Things Are {Positions}".   Then, the Kindergarten students will learn about "How Things Move".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the story-----"Tell Me a Story".
English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Adjectives".
Spelling----The First Grade students will learn about "More Long "Ee" Words".  This week's spelling words are:  feel, eat, need, read, deep, sleep, neat, keep and feed.  The Challenge Words are:  peanut and please.  The Special Words are:  been , goes and never.
Writing----The First Grade students will be writing their own stories.
 and "One Fourth".
Math----The First Grade  students will learn about "One Half", "One Third" and "one Fourth".  The First Grade students will also learn about "Measuring {Inches }".

Social Studies----The students will learn about "Picture Graphs" and "Maps".

What's Happening This Week----March 13th Through March 16th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Cc" makes----keyword----cat.  The students will learn that the letter "Cc" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will read some pages out of the Dr. Seuss book----"Hop on Pop".  The students will also read some "Cc" words.  The "Cc" words to be read are:  cat, cut, can, cup, cast, cross, cost, cab, class, clap, clam, cuff, scab, crisp and craft.  The Sight Words to be read are: to, is, four, the, if, into, from, has and of.  Phonics words list will also be read.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letter "Cc" and some phonics words.

Math----The Kindergarten students will "Explore Fourths".  Then, the students will learn about "Joining" {addition }..

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "Jesus is Our Friend and That Jesus is Always With Us".

Science----The Kindergarten students  will learn about the "Seasons".  Then, the students will learn about "Positions----Where Things Are?"

First Grade

Reading.----The First Grade students will be reading the story-----"At Home Around the World".
The students will also be reading the booklet----"Eating Yummy Cake". The students will be reading some pages from a Dr. Seuss book.

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn that the letter "y" can make the long :Ee" sound as in the word yummy.   The students will also learn the "Digraph "ng" and the Suffix "ing", the "Suffix "ed", the Digraph "ee",and the "vc/cv" { vowel consonant/ consonant vowel} Rule".

English----The First Grade students will learn about "Adjectives".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn "More Long "Aa" words".  This week's spelling words are:  play, rain, say, way, sail, day, mail, stay, may and pain.  The Challenge Words are:  today and afraid.  The Special Words are:  too, soon and hear.

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing their own stories called "Make and Bake", "Three Seeds" and "The Beehive".

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Bar Graphs", "Equal Parts", "One Half,1/2 " and "One Third, 1/3".

Social Studies----The students will continue their study of "Maps".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters "Zz" and "Cc".

Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Equal Parts",  "Explore Symmetry", "Explore Halves" and "Explore Fourths".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "We Care About Other as Jesus Did".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Measuring Weather" and "Seasons".


First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will read the stories "Me on the Map". and "At Home Around the World".  The booklets----"Baseball" and "The Robot and Mr. Mole"----will be read.

Spelling----In Unit 26, the First Grade students will learn about "Mixed Vowel Review".  The spelling words this week are:  mad, made, hop, hope, pin, pine, bit, bite, hid and hide.  The challenge words are:  plan and plane.

English----The First Grade students will be reviewing----verbs, subject and verb agreement, contractions, sentence parts----naming and action parts, special nouns and pronouns.

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Venn Diagrams", "Tally Charts", "Picture Graphs" and "Pictographs".

Social Studies----The students will continue their study of "Maps".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters "Uu" and "Zz".

Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Tally Mark Charts", "Picture Graphs", Pictographs" and "Bar Graphs".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "We Pray as Jesus Did".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Weather----Windy Weather and Snowy Weather".  Then, the students will learn about "Measuring Weather" and "Seasons".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will read the story "A Bed Full of Cats" and the booklet----"Patch's Treat".  Then, the students will read the story "Me on the Map" and the booklet----"Baseball".  A "Long Ee" booklet will be read----"Pete's Sheep".

English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Contractions".  Then, the students will learn about "Words That Look the Same--but have different meanings".

Spelling----The First Grade students will be learning words that have the "Long Vowel Sound".  The spelling words are:  same, like, stone, smile, note, side, wake, woke, wide and wave.  The Challenge Words are:  beside and space.

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Finding Missing Addends", "Mixed Practice", "Problem Solving" and "Venn Diagram".

Social Studies--The First Grade students will learn about "Finding the Main Idea".  Then, the students will learn about "Maps".  On Friday, March 2nd, the students will learn about Dr. Seuss"

Story Time----The students will listen to "Bible Stories".
