Kindergarten
Phonics----The Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Uu" makes----keyword----umbrella. The students will learn that the letter "Uu" is a vowel letter.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will read words that contain the letter "Uu". Some of the "Uu" words to be read will be: run, sun, fun, tub, bun, sub, cub, cut and cup. "Sight Words" and "Phonics Word Sentences" will continue to be read. The students will also read the booklet----"The Big Trip".
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letter "Uu" and phonics word sentences.
Math----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of "Money". Everyday the students play "Fair Trade Money". For example, the students have to give me "5 pennies" in exchange for a "nickel". The student has to tell me what each "coin's" name is and how much their is worth. The students are also "Fair Trading Money"----5 pennies and one nickel for a dime or 10 pennies for a dime or two nickels for a dime. The students will also learn about "Seasons".
Religion----The Kindergarten student will learn about "Mary" .
First Grade
Phonics----The First Grade students will learn about the "Long Oo Sound" ----oa as in boat, ow as in bow and "o" as in no.
Reading----The First Grade students will read the stories-----"The Fox and the Stork" and "A Bed Full of Cats". The students will also read the booklet----"A Load of Stuff ".
English----The First Grade students will learn about "Contractions" and "Words That Mean the Same".
Spelling----The First Grade students will learn words that contain the "Long Oo Sound ". The spelling words this week are: go, home, rope, so, joke, bone, hole, no, stove, poke, hello and alone. The "Special Writing Words " are: come, done and some.
Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Money". The students will also do addition and subtraction "Rocket Math" worksheets. "Fractions" will be reviewed.
Religion----The First Grade students will continue their study of the "Sacraments".
Science----The students will learn about "Seasons". Then, the students will begin a unit on "Matter".
