What's Happening This Week----February 17th Through February 21st

A special thanks to all who sent snacks for our classroom St. Valentine's Day Party.  A great big thank you to the room parents who could come to help at the party and for all the fun games and craft project that were done.

I want to thank everyone for the nice St. Valentine's Day cards and yummy candy.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will begin their study of the sound that the letter "Bb" makes----keyword----balloon.  The students will learn that the letter "Bb" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will continue to read "Sight Words and Sight Word Sentences". "Bb" words will be read.  The "Bb" words to be read are:  bib, bat, bag, ban, big and bass.   The students will read the booklet----"The Big Trip".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letter "Bb".  Sight word sentences will also be printed.

Math----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of "Money".  The students will learn about the "Dime and Quarter".  The students will also learn how to count "Mixed Coins".  Addition problems will continue to be done.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "We Show Our Friends God's Love".  Then, the students will learn that "God Chose Mary to be the Mother of His Son, Jesus".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will continue their study of the "Final Syllables---dle, -gle, -tle and -kle.  Then, the students will learn about the "Long "Oo" Sound" of  "ow" as in "low" and "oa" as in "boat". 

Reading----The First Grade students will read "Sight Words and Sight Word Sentences".  The stories----"Friends Forever" and "The Fox and the Stork"---- will be read.  The booklets----" A Jumping Pet" and "A Load of Stuff"----will be read.

English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Verbs".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn spelling words that have the "Long Ii Sound".

Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Money".  The students will be counting "Mixed Coins".  Addition and Subtraction "Rocket Math" Problems will continue to be done.

Religion----The First Grade students will learn about " We Celebrate the Sacraments" and "The Church Welcomes New Members".

Science----The students will learn about "Weather and Seasons".

Social Studies----The students will learn about "George Washington".
