What's Happening This Week----January 13th Through January 17th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will study the sound that the letter "Rr" makes----keyword----rabbit.  The students will learn that the letter "Rr" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will learn the following "Sight Words":  " Son " and "it ".
The students will read and practice the "Sight Word" list that the students have already studied.  The students will read "Rr" words :  rip, ram, rag, rat, rot, rap, ran, trip, trap, trim, raft, ramp, gram, grass, frog, frost and raft. The students will also read the booklet---- "Frog Ran ".

Handwriting----The students will print the letters "Ff" and  "Rr".  The students will also print phonics word sentences.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "God Cares For Our Families".

Math----The students will learn about the numbers 17, 18, 19 and 20.   The students will also learn about "Equal Parts, Symmetry, Halves and Fourths".


First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will review the "wh" sound.  The students will learn the "qu" sound.

Reading----The First Grade students will read the stories----"Did You See Chip? " and "Tomas Rivera ".  The students will also read the booklets---- " Carmen Sells Stars " and  "One Night ".

English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Verbs".

Writing----The First Grade students will write their own sentences.

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn words that contain "wh and th".  Then, the students will learn words that contain the "long a " sound.

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Halves and Fourths".  Subtraction problems will also be done.

Religion----The First Grade students will learn about how " The Church Serves " .
