Kindergarten
Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Ii" makes----keyword----inch. Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Ss" makes----keyword----sun. The students will learn that the letter "Ii" is a vowel letter and the letter "Ss" is a consonant letter.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will read the "Sight Words": I, see, name, color, my, the, one, two, go, is, and, a, an, not, an and to. The students will also read "Ss" words: gas, sap, sit, as, is, has and tops. The students will also read small phonics booklets.
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters "Ii" and "Ss". The students will also print phonics words and phonics word sentences.
Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about how to "Identify and Write the Numbers 11, 12, 13 and 14". The students will use magnetic ten-frames and counters to make the numbers 11, 12, 13 and 14. The students will also learn to "Equalize Sets" by either x-ing out an item or drawing an item to make the set equal to another set. "Addition Worksheets" will continue to be done.
Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Advent". The students will be making an "Advent Wreath".
Centers----The Kindergarten students will do----"Play Dough Letters", "Play Dough Words", "Slide Word Cards" and "Scribble Boards" for review.
First Grade
Phonics----The First Grade students will study the "Sh", "Ch" and "tch" sounds.
Reading----The First Grade students will read the booklet----"Just One More" and "At the Fish Shop". The students will be reading the stories----"Fun With Fish" and "I Am a Butterfly". The students will be reading short stories and then answering "reading comprehension" questions about the story.
English----The First Grade students will continue to review past items. Then, a unit on "Verbs" will be started.
Spelling----The First Grade students will learn "Words That Have Sh or Ch in them". This week's spelling words are: ship, chin, much, chop, wish, shop and shoe". The Special Writing Words are: how, now and our.
Math----The First Grade students will learn about the "Place Value of Digits", " Expanded Form" of numbers, "Count by 5's" and "Counting Nickels". "Rocket Math" will continue to be done.
Religion----The First Grade students will learn about "Advent". The students will be making an "Advent Wreath". The students will also learn that the "Holy Spirit Helps the Church Today".
Centers----The First Grade students will do----"Play Dough Words", "Addition Wheels", "Word Wheels", "Word Cards That Slide" and the "Scribble Boards" for review.
Science----The students will continue their study of "Habitats". The students will be making a "Desert", "Pond" and "Rain Forest" Habitats.
Reading Comprehension----The students will have a story read to them. The students are learning to listen carefully to the story and then answer questions about the story. I am reading one sentence at a time and then asking questions about each sentence to help the student to focus on what each sentence was about . Then, at the end of reading the whole story, I again ask questions about the whole story.
Crafts----The students crafts will center around "Advent" and "Christmas".
