What's Happening This Week----November 18th Through November 22nd

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Mm" makes----keyword----monkey.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Ii" makes----keyword----inch.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading phonics word lists and the booklet----"Hop on the Mop".  Some words the students will read are:  ant, an, at, man, mat, map, ham, pan, mop, mom, tap, tan, pig, pin, lip, tip, it, in, him, lit, hit, tin, pit, till, ill and lit.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters "Mm" and "Ii".  The students will also print phonics words and phonics word sentences.

Math----The Kindergarten students will study the terms----"Fewest and Most" and "Equalizing Sets".  "Ordinals----First Through Tenth" and "Number Patterns"  will also be studied.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that God gives us the gift of our senses to discover His world.  Then, the students will learn that "We Learn About God With Our Families".

Centers----The Kindergarten students will do----"Play Dough Words and Letters", "Word Slide Cards" and the" Scribble Board" for review.

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn about the sound of "tch" as in the word---catch.

Reading----The First Grade students will read the stories----"Fun With Fish" and "I Am a Butterfly".  The booklets----"Just One More" and "At the Fish Shop"----will also be read.  The students will also read short stories and then answer questions about these stories----this is to help the students with reading comprehension.

English----The First Grade students will review past lessons that have been taught.  The students will be reviewing----nouns, pronouns, sentences, name yourself last and special nouns.

Spelling----The First Grade students will study words that have "Double Final Consonants".  This week's spelling words are:  will, egg, grass, tell, miss and well.  The Special Words for Writing are:  look, little and very.

Math----The First Grade students will "Add Three Digit Numbers".  Then, the students will learn the "Place Value of Digits", "Expanded Form of tens and ones" and "Count by 5's".

Religion----The First Grade students will learn that "The Holy Spirit Helps the Church to Grow".

Centers----The First Grade students will do----"Play Dough Words", "Word Wheels", "Word Slide Cards", "Addition Wheels" and "Scribble Board" for review.

Science----The students will study about "Homes For Living Things" and "Plants and Animals Together".

Social Studies----The students will study about "Our Continent" and the "Earth".
