What's Happening This Week----November 5th Through November November 8th

A big thank you to all the parents who made the Kindergarten / First Grade Halloween Party so very nice for the boys and girls.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Nn" makes----keyword----nest.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Mm" makes----keyword----monkey.  The students will learn that the letters "Nn" and "Mm" are consonant letters.

Reading----The Kindergarten will be reading Sight Words and Phonics Words.  The students will bring home a phonics word list as homework, this week.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters "Nn" and "Mm".  The students will print phonics word sentences.

Math----The Kindergarten students will review numbers from 1-10.  The students have to count and color the correct number of items that corresponds to a number.  The students will also be learning about the terms----"As Many As", "More" and "Fewer". The Number 11 and 12" will be studied.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "God Made Us".

Centers----The Kindergarten students will do "Play Dough Words", "Play Dough Letters" and the "Scribble Board" for review.

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will read the story----"Try Your Best".  The students will also read the booklet----"Just One More".

English----The First Grade students will learn about "Pronouns" and "Words That Mean the Same".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn spelling words that contain the sounds of "cl", "fl' and "sl".  This week's spelling words are:   flap, club, flag, clap, sled, slip and flower.  The Special Writing Words are :  said, her and here.

Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "tens and ones" place numbers through one hundred".  Addition "Rocket Math" worksheets will continue to be done.

Religion----The First Grade students will learn that "Jesus Taught in the Temple in Jerusalem" and that "Jesus Died and Rose".  The students will also learn that "Jesus Sent the Holy Spirit".

Centers----The First Grade students will do "Play Dough Words", "Word Flash Cards", "Addition Wheels", "Word Wheels" and the "Scribble Board" for review.

Science----The students will study about "What Animals Need" and "Animals Grow and Change".

Social Studies----The students will learn about "Our Continent" and "Thanksgiving".
