What's Happening This Week----October 7th Through October 11th
Achievement test will be given to the Kindergarten and First Grade students.
Kindergarten
Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Pp" makes----keyword----pig. Then, the students will study the sound that the letter "Aa" makes----keyword----apple. The students will learn that the letter "Aa" is a vowel letter.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will read the "Sight Words"----color, the, is, you, and, a and at. The students will read the "Phonics Words"----hat, pot, tag, tap, lag, lap, pat, gap, gag, hog, hot, lot, got, hop, top and pop, The students will also read the booklet----"Hot, Hot, Hot". The students will continue to read the "Color Words". This week the color words----"brown and black" will be read.
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters----"Pp" and "Aa". The students will also print their first name and phonics words and phonics sentences.
Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Left Between, Right", "Before, Between, After" and "As Many As". The students will also be reviewing past concepts that have been studied. The students will learn about the number "9".
Centers----The Kindergarten students will be using----"Play Dough Letters", "Flash Cards" and "Scribble Board" for review.
Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Ordinary Time: in the Church Year.
First Grade
Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"Boots For Beth" and "Space Pup". The reading booklet ---- "Ben"----- will also be read.
Spelling----The First Grade students will be spelling words that contain the endings "nt" and "mp". The Spelling Words are: ant, jump, tent, lamp, bump, went and pants. The "Special Writing Words" are: want, or and were.
English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Nouns".
Writing----The First Grade students will be writing sentences with the spelling words. The students will also be writing a story about "What Surprises Are in Their Box".
Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Sums of 9 and 10", "Doubles + 1 ", "Sums of 11 and 12", "Other Names for Numbers" and "Using Patterns".
Religion----The First Grade students will learn about "Ordinary Time" in the Church Year, "Saints" and "Jesus Had Many Followers".
Centers----The First Grade students will be using "Play Dough Words", "Addition Fact Wheels", "Flash Cards With Partners" and the "Scribble Board" for review.
Science----The students will learn about "Animals".
Social Studies----The students will learn about "Our Country" and "Using Pictures and Maps".
