What's Happening This Week-----May 6th Through May 10th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue to study the sound of the "sh".  Then, the students will learn the sound of the "th".

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the story----"Sam and the Bag".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing sight word sentences and sight words.

Writing----The Kindergarten students will be printing their own sentences about a "hat" and a "cat".

Math----The Kindergarten students will review money, counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's. Then, the students will learn how to order by weight and capacity.  The students will learn about what hold more and what hold less.  Addition Rocket Math worksheets will also be done.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn about "The Holy Spirit".  Then, the students will learn that we should take care of God' creation. 

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn about the Digraphs----"au, aw, ue, ph and ghost letters".

Reading----The First Grade students will read the story----"How to be a Nature Detective"  The students will also read the booklets----"Find Something to Do" and "Old Rover".

English----The First Grade students will be reviewing  "writing sentences correctly, proofreading, naming and action parts of the sentence, nouns and pronouns, verbs, correct verbs, contraction's, adjectives, book titles, commas in place names and in dates, and order words".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn compound words:  bedtime, sunset, bathtub, sailboat, flagpole, railroad, backpack, playpen, raincoat, inside, airplane and doorbell.

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing a story about "The Beehive", " Hide and Seek", "Magic Ride" "King Cole" and " Rain ".

Math----The First Grade students will review " Subtraction and Addition" and " Number Families ".  " Three Addition " will also be done.  Number Bond papers will be done.  Number families of 6,7,8 and 9 will be done.  Flash cards will also be done.

Religion----The First Grade students will learn that "We Should Treat Other People the Way We Want to be Treated ". We need others to help us grow.  Jesus showed us how to love and serve God and others. 

Social Studies----The students will be learning about " Maps ".
