What's Happening This Week-----April 29th Through May 3rd

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will learn the sound that "sh" makes----keyword----shark.
The students will learn the "ap" sound as in the word----cap.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will read in the First Grade reading series,  The stories to be read are:  "The Hat" and "Sam and the Bag".  The students will also read "ap" word family words.  Many reading worksheets will be done. The students will be reading the many " sight words " that they have been learning.  The "Sight Words " to be read are:  I, a, to, go, see, my, is, went, we, look, come, mom, dad, are, said, he, me, on, and, am, can, got, in, will, up, at, they, you, it, she, the.  The students will learn the " sight words "-----when, this, like and for.

Writing----The Kindergarten students will color a picture of a "hat" and a "cat".  Then, the students will write their own sentence[s] about a "hat" and a "cat".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing pages out of a Kindergarten handwriting work book.

Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about ""Compare by Length", "Order by Length" and "Compare by Height".  The students will also do " addition "Rocket Math" worksheets.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn about "God's Greatest Gifts", "Family Fun", "Doing What Jesus Wants Us to Do".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn the "Digraphs au and aw", the "Digraph ue" and about "Ghost Letters".

Reading----The First Grade students will read the stories----"Fishing Bears" and "How to Be a Nature Detective".  The booklets----"Find Something to Do" and "Old Rover" will be read.

English----The First Grade students will learn about putting "Commas in Place Names" and "Words That Sound the Same".  Then, the students will review the past English concepts that they have been learning all school year.

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn spelling words that have the "ing" ending.  The spelling words are:  going, saying, blowing, eating, flying, seeing, keeping, sleeping, being and growing.   The "Challenge Words" are:  talking and shouting".   The "Special Writing Words " are:  around, always and before.

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing stories about the "Three Seeds",  "The Beehive" and "Hide and Seek Time!".

Math----The First Grade students will learn how to "Borrow" in subtraction.  The students will continue doing addition and subtraction "Rocket Math" worksheets.

Religion----The First Grade students will learn that "We Are All Important to God" and that "We Care For and Respect All People".

Science----The students will learn about "Electricity", a "Frog's Life Cycle" and a Butterfly's Life Cycle".

Social Studies-----The students will learn about "Maps".
