What's Happening This Week-----August 14th Through August 16th

I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer vacation.  The summer sure does fly by so fast.  I am so glad to be back at OLOS .  There is 13 boys and girls in our Kindergarten/ First Grade Classroom.  This is a very important year in your child's educational schooling.  I am so grateful and proud to be your child's teacher.

During this week, the students will be learning the various classroom, lunch room, restroom, hall and playground rules and procedures.  The students will be learning to say their Prayers, and the  Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Every morning the students will be saying their ABC's -along with the letters sounds.  The Calendar and Weather Chart will be done.  The students will also be learning a "Welcome Back Song"----that will be sang each morning.

The students will learn to use their right hand to make the Sign of the Cross and to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

I believe that learning manners are a very important aspect of early education----especially since the students are learning in a Catholic School environment.  The boys and girls will practice saying "Good Morning" back to someone,if another person says "Good Morning" to them.  The students will practice saying  "Please and Thank-You" , "Excuse Me", "I'm Sorry" and "May I?".

Everyone will learn that being kind to each other-----by doing and saying kind things----the way that Jesus wants us to be-----is the right way to act towards each other.  Everyone  will learn that everyone needs to be included in their recess fun.

This will be a special learning year in all areas of education----in Religious education, in Academic education, in Social education and in Emotional education in your child's life.
