What's Happening This Week----March 25th Through March 29th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Jj" makes----keyword----jar.  The students will learn that the letter "Jj" is a consonant letter.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Xx" makes----keyword----fox.  The students will learn that the letter "Xx" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will read phonics word lists and sight words.  The students will make and read flash cards.  Then, the students will read the booklets----"Pig's Jet" and "Zac the Rat".  The students will be doing reading worksheets from the booklet-----"Zac the Rat".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters "Jj" and "Xx".  The students will also print phonics sentences.

Math----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of "Subtraction".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that they can talk to God anytime, anyplace and anywhere..  Then, the students will learn that "We Celebrate Jesus' Gift of Himself".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn the "Diagraph ch", the "Combination or", the "Combination qu" the "Combination ir"  and the "Combination ur".

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"Little Bear's Friend" and "Busy Buzzy Bee".  Reading booklets will also be read.  The students will learning word families , highlighting words they know in Nursery Rhymes and doing word practice worksheets and sentences.

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing their own spelling word sentences and word practice sentences.  The students will also be writing  their own stories.

English----The First Grade students will continue to learn how to write "Titles for People".  Then, the students will learn about "Book Titles" and "Days of the Week".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn words that contain the long e sound---"ee" and "ea" words.  The Spelling Words this week are:  feet, eat, need, read, deep, sleep, neat, keep, feed and mean.  The Challenge Words are:  peanut and please.  The Special Writing words are:  been, goes and never.

Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Carrying in Addition Problems".  Then, the students will learn about "Plane Figures" and "Solid Figures". Next, the students will learn about "Subtraction of Two-Digit Numbers". Rocket Math will continue to be done.

Religion----The First Grade students will learn about "Mass" and "We Listen to God's Word".

Science----The students will continue their study of "Matter----Liquids and Gases".  Then, the students will learn about "Mixtures" and how "Heat Can Change Matter".
