What's Happening This Week----November 6th Through November 9th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Mm" makes----keyword----monkey.  The students will learn that the letter "Mm" is a consonant letter.
Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Ii" makes----keyword----inch.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading phonics words lists .  The students will also be reading a phonics booklet-----"Hop on Mop".

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Mm" and "Ii".  The students will also be printing phonics words.

Math-----The Kindergarten students will learn the terms----"In Front, Behind, Left, Right, Between, Before and After".  Numbers, counting objects and addition problems will be done.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "We Learn About God With Our Families".

Centers----The Kindergarten students will be using play-dough to make the letters that have been taught.   Also, the students will be using dry ease boards to print their letters. Magnetic numbers will be put on the magnetic board. Number and letter puzzles will be done.

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn that the letter "Uu" can have a short "u" sound as in umbrella or a long "u" sound as in unicorn.  Then, the students will learn about "silent "e's" job at the end of a word.

Reading----The First Grade students will read the story "Try Your Best" and the booklet-----"Just One More".

English----The First Grade students will learn about "Special Nouns that name animals and places" and "Naming Yourself Last".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn spelling words with an "nt" and "mp" in them. This week's spelling words are:  ant, jump, tent, lamp, bump, went and pants.  The Challenge Word is cabin.  The Special Words are----were, want and or.

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing a story about a kola bear.

Math----The First Grade students will be learning about "Fractions----One Half/ 1/2, One Third/ 1/3, One Fourth/ 1/4", "Part of a Set" and "Place Value of Digits----Tens and Ones".

Religion----The First Grade students will about the "Pope".

Centers----The First Grade students will use flash cards to practice addition facts and vocabulary words, do string words and magnetic words. 

Science----The students will continue their study of "Animals".

Social Studies----The students will learn about the "First Thanksgiving' and the "Pilgrims".
