What's Happening This Week----October 29th Through November 2nd

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Nn" makes----keyword----nest.  The letter "Nn" is a consonant letter.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Mm" makes----keyword----monkey.  The students will learn that the letter "Mm" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading phonics word lists.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Nn" and "Mm".

Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about the terms:  "Inside and Outside", "In Front of and Behind" and " Left and Right".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "We Learn About God's World With Our Families".

Centers----The Kindergarten students will be using play-dough to make letters, using dry-ease worksheets to practice their printing skills, magnetic letter board to practice their phonics words, making flash cards and using number and letter puzzles.

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will continue to read the story----"Where Do Frog Come From?".  Then, the students will read the booklet----"Frank From Moss Pond".  Next, the students will read the story----"Try Your Best".

English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "One and More Than One" and "Special Nouns that name people".  Then, the students will learn about  "Special Nouns that name animals and places".

Writing----The First Grade students will continue to write stories----one story about a truck and another story about Halloween.

Spelling----The First Grade students will continue to study short vowel spelling words:  The short vowel spelling words are:  him, hot, man, men, top and cut.  Then, the students will learn about words that contain a "nt' and "mp".  These spelling words will be:  ant, jump, tent, lamp, bump and went.  The Challenge words is "cabin" and the special writing words are:  were, want and or. 

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Numbers 90 Through 100", "Equal Parts", "One Half,1/2", "One Third, 1/3" and "Place Values of Digits".

Religion----The First Grade students will learn that "The Church Serves". 

Centers----The First Grade students will use the magnetic board to put on their vocabulary words from their reading book, making play-dough words, making words using the short vowel sounds and doing string words for their spelling words.

Science----The students will continue to learn about "Animals--"How Animals Meet Their Needs" , "Which Animals Eat Plants", "How Animals Grow and Change" and ""Animals----"Places to Live".

Crafts----The crafts this week center around "Halloween"----Halloween stickers, decorating a Halloween bag and decorating Halloween cookies.
