What's Happening This Week----October 8th Through October 12th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Pp" makes----keyword----pig.  The students will learn that the letter "Pp" is a consonant letter.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Aa" makes----keyword----apple.   The students will learn that the letter "Aa" isa vowel letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the phonics words:  log, hog, hot, pot, top, lot, got, pop, at, pat, tap and hat.  Color words will continue to be read.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters "Pp" and "Aa".  The students will also print phonics words and their name.

Math----The Kindergarten students will study "Transferring Patterns" and "Making Their Own Patterns".  The students will also learn about "Cube and Rectangular Prism".  TH students will also learn about the terms of "Above and Below".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "God Made All People".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will be learning about the "Digraph th, Digraph -ng and the suffix -ing, and the suffix -ed".

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"Boots For Beth" and "Space Pup".  The booklet----"Ben"----will also be read.

English----The First Grade students will learn about "Nouns----naming words for Things and Places".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn Spelling words that have the "Short "Ee" Sound".  The Spelling this week are:  yes, let, red, ten, bed, get and messy.  The "Special Words" are:  for, they and have.

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Addition of Three Numbers", "Tens and Ones" and "Tens Through One Hundred"

Religion----The First Grade students will learn that "Jesus Died and Rose to a New Life".

Social Studies----The students will review "American Symbols".  Then, the students will learn about "Directions".

Science----The students will learn about the "Types of Animals", "What Animals Need to Live" and "How Animals Meet Their Needs"..
