What's Happening This Week----October 1st Through October 5th

Just a Reminder:    This Friday, October 5th, is our Kindergarten/ First Grade Field Trip.  All the students are so excited.

Kindergarten----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Tt" makes----keyword----tent.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Pp" makes----keyword----pig.  The students will learn that the letters "Tt" and "Pp" are consonant letters.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading a phonics word list.  Color words will continue to be read.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Tt" and "Pp".  The students will also be printing phonics words and their first name.

Math----The Kindergarten students will continue to "Identify and Write the Numbers 1-8", making "Patterns" and learning about the shapes of "Cylinder, Cone and Sphere".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Ordinary Time" in the church year.

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"Dan's Pet" and "Boots For Beth".  The students will also be reading the booklet----"Fix-It Fox".

English----The First Grade students will be reviewing past items that have been learned----such as, end mark, the correct sentence, naming part of a sentence, action part of a sentence, telling and question sentences. The students will learn about "Nouns".

Spelling----The First Grade students will review past spelling words.  The Spelling words this week are:  an, can, cat, bad, had, ran, in, did, six, pig, sit and big.

Math----The First Grade students will learn how to use the "Number-Line" to do addition problems, learning "Double Facts",  "Double plus 1 Facts" and "Addition Patterns".

Religion----The First Grade students will learn that "Jesus Had Many Followers".

Science----The students will learn about "Animals".

Social Studies----The students will learn about the "Statue of Liberty" and "Directions".
