What's Happening This Week----October 22nd Through October 25th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Aa" makes----keyword----apple.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Nn" makes----keyword----nest.  The students will learn that the letter "Aa" is a vowel letter and the letter "Nn" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will read the phonics booklet----"Hot, Hot, Hot".  The students will also read phonics word lists and flash cards.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letter "Aa" and "Nn".  The students will also be printing phonics words and color words.

Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning about the terms:  ""Top, Middle, Bottom", "Over, On, Under" and "Inside, Outside".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "You Can Tell God Anything" and "God Helps Us To Discover"---His world by God's gift to us of our five senses.

Centers----The Kindergarten students will be doing "play-dough letters", "dry ease letters", " dry ease handwriting", "fish bowl numbers and number puzzles" and "flash cards".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn about the "Suffix -ed" and "The Rule vc/ vc".

Reading----The First Grade students will read the stories "Where Do Frogs Come From?" and "Try Your Best". The students will also read the booklet "Frank Form Moss Pond".

English----The First Grade students will learn about "One and More Than One" and "Special Nouns".

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing a story about a "Dog".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn spelling words that have "Short Vowel Sounds".  The  spelling words are:  him, hot, man. men, top and cut.  The Challenge Word is ----cabin.   The Special Words are----has, his and as.

Math----The First Grade students will learn about " Numbers 11 Through 89".

Religion----The First Grade students will learn about how "The Holy Spirit Helps the Church to Grow".   

Centers----The First Grade students will " use counting blocks to make block towers of ten and ones", "do string words", "use magnetic letters to make their vocabulary words", "use dry ease boards" and "use string words for their spelling words".

Science----The students will learn about "Animals----"What Animals Need to Live", "How Animal Meet Their Needs", "How Animal Eat Food" and "How Animals Grow and Change".
