What's Happening This Week----February 5th Through February 9th

I want to thank everyone for all the nice teacher appreciation cards and gifts that I received on "Teacher Appreciation" Day.  What nice thoughtful cards and gifts!

Kindergarten
Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Kk" makes----keyword----kite.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Bb" makes----keyword----balloon.  The students will learn that the letters "Kk" and "Bb" are both consonant letters.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the phonics booklet----"Frog Ran". The students will be reading some "Kk" and "Bb" words,  The "Kk" words to be read will be:  kit, kiss, kin and ask.  Some "Bb" words to be read will be:  bib, bat, bag, big, ban and bass.
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Kk" and "Bb".  The students will also be printing phonics words and their first and last name.
Math----The Kindergarten students will learn to "Identify and Write the Numbers 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20".  The students will also learn to "Compare Numbers----less than, equal to or greater than".  The students will learn to "Compare by Size".
Religion----In Chapter 19, the Kindergarten students will learn that "Jesus Wants Us to Love".
Science----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of our Earth's "Natural Resources----Water, Soil and Rocks". 

First Grade
Reading----The First Grade students will read the story "Friend's Forever" and the booklet----"A Jumping Pet".  Then, the students will read the story "Yhe Fox and the Stork" and the booklet----"A Load of Stuff".  A Long "Ii" booklet will also be read.
Phonics----The First grade students will be learning about the "Long "Ii" Sound, the sound of the "Final Syllables "dle" and "gle", the sound of "ow" as in the word "low" and the sound of "oa" as in the words "road" and "soap".
English----The First Grade students will continue to learn about the "Pronoun {subject} and Verb Agreement Rule".  Then, the students will learn about "Verbs With "ed"----Add "ed"to some verbs to tell about the past. 
Spelling----The First Grade students will continue their study of spelling words with the "Long Ii Sound".  Then, the students will learn spelling words with the "Long "Oo" Sound".  The "Long "Oo" spelling words are:  go, home, rope, so. joke, bone, hole, no, stove, poke, hello and alone.
Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Subtraction".

Social Studies----The students will learn about "Ground Hog Day" and "Abraham Lincoln".
