What's Happening This Week----February 12th Through February 16th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Bb" makes----keyword----balloon..  The students will learn that the letter "Bb" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the following "Bb" words:  bib, bat, bag, big, ban and bass.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Rr", "Kk" and "Bb".  The students will also be printing phonics words.

Math----The Kindergarten students will "Identify and Write Numbers 19 and 20".  The students will be writing numbers from 1-20.  The students will also be "Comparing Items by "Size, Length and Height".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will be learning about "Lent". During "Lent" we pray, act as Jesus did and care for others.

Science----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of our Earth's "Natural Resources."  Then, the students will learn about "Weather".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will be learning the Long "Oo" sound as the "ow" as in the words bow and row; and the "oa" as in the words boat and soap.

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"Friends Forever", "The Fox and the Stork".  The booklet----"A Jumping Pet" will also be read.  Then, a booklet containing "Long Oo" words will be read.

English----The First Grade students will learn that the verb "is" is used in a sentence when the noun names one and the verb "are" is used in a sentence when the noun names more than one.  Then, the students will learn about the verb "was" which is used in a sentence when the noun names one.    Also, the students will learn that the verb "were" is used in a sentence when the noun names more than one.

Spelling----The First Grade students will continue their study of words with the "Long Oo" words.  The "Long Oo" words are:  go, home, rope, so, joke, bone, hole, no, stove and poke.  The Challenge Words are:  hello and alone.  Then, the students will learn spelling words that contain the "Long Ee" sound.  The "Long Ee" spelling words are:  he, see, she, tree, me, feet, we, be, green and peek.  The Challenge Words will be:  three and street.

Math----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Subtraction".  The students will also learn about "Related Subtraction Facts" and "Related Addition and Subtraction Facts" and "Fact Families".

Social Studies----The students will continue their study of "Abraham Lincoln".  Then, the students will learn about "George Washington"

Crafts----The crafts this week will be around the "Valentine Theme" and "Abraham Lincoln" and "George Washington".
