What's Happening This Week-----January 22nd Through January 26th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Ff" makes----keyword----fish.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Rr" makes----keyword----rabbit.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading color words.  The students will also be reading the following "Rr" words:  rip, ram, rag, rat. rot, rap, ran, trip, trim, trap, raft, ramp, grass and gram.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing their first and last name and phonics words.  The students will also be printing the letters "Ff" and "Rr".

Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning to "Identify and Write the Numbers 13 , 14, 15 and 16. 

Religion----In Chapter 17, the Kindergarten students will learn that "Jesus Grew Up in Nazareth".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Natural Resources"----"Rocks,, Water and Soil".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories-----"Tomas Rivera" and "On the Way to the Pond".  The booklet----"One Night" will also be read.

English----The First Grade students will be learning about "Noun and Verb Agreement" and "Pronoun and Verb Agreement".

Spelling----The First Grade students will be learning words that have the "Long "A" Sound.  The spelling words this week are :  came, make, brave. bake, take, name, late, gave, shape, game, parade and erase.  The Challenge Words are:  out, about and over.
Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Sides and Corners" and "Sorting Plane Figures".  Then, the students will start a unit on "Subtraction".
Social Studies----The students will learn about "Settlers" and "Sacajawea".
Crafts----The crafts , this week will center around the 100th Day of School, which will take place on Friday, January 26th.
