What's Happening This Week----December 18th Through December 21st

On Thursday, December 21st, the Kindergarten/ First Grade Classroom will be having their Classroom Christmas Party starting at 1:30 p.m. Each students needs to bring a $5.00 gift to the party.  Each boy should bring a boy's gift---wrapped and labeled----"To Boy".  Each girl should bring a girl's gift----wrapped and labeled----"To Girl".  Thanks for all your help to make the Classroom Christmas Party a success.

I wish everyone a blessed Christmas and have fun making many cherished family memories.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Ss" makes----keyword----sun.  The students will learn that the letter "Ss" is a consonant letter.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading words that contain the letter "Ss".  Some words to be read will be:  gas, sap, sit, sip, its, is, his, as, has, sag, stop, spot, slot, spin, snip, slit, last, slot, gasp, slip and slim.  The students will also read the phonics booklet----"Stan's Pigs".
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letter "Ss".
Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning about "Ordinals: First Through Tenth"' "Problem Solving" and "Equalizing Sets".
Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn that "Everyone's Caring Actions Are Signs of Love", "Jesus Is God's Son" and "Our Five Senses Are Gifts From God".
Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about the "Day Sky" and the "Night Sky".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"I Am a Butterfly" and "Did You See Chip?".  The booklet----"Baby Chicks Hatch"----will also be read.
Spelling----The First Grade students will be reviewing initial consonants and vowel sounds.
English----The First Grade students will be reviewing "Naming Yourself Last", "Pronouns", "What a Sentence Is" and "Question Sentences".  Then, the students will be reading "A Very Special Day" and answering questions about the story.
Math----The First Grade students will begin a unit on "Money".
Social Studies----The First Grade students will be learning about "People With Great Ideas".
