What's Happening This Week----December 11th Through December 15th

Kindergarten
Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Ii" makes----keyword----inch.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Ss" makes----keyword----sun.  The students will learn that the letter "Ii" is a vowel letter and the letter "Ss" is a consonant letter.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading "Ii" words, for example: pin, in, tip and lip.  Then, the students will be reading "Ss" words.  The students will read the following "Ss" words:  sap, sit, gas, sip, sat, stop, spot, slot, spin, snip, slit, last, slat, gasp, slip, slim and slit.  A phonics booklet--"Stan's Pigs" will be read.
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Ii" and "Ss".
Math----The Kindergarten students will be counting objects, "Using the Number Line", "Ordinals: First to Tenth" and "Number Patterns".
Religion----In Chapter 14, the Kindergarten students will learn about "Christmas".
Science----The Kindergarten students will learn that "Plants Need Animals to Move Seeds".  The students will also learn about the "Day Sky" and the "Night Sky".

First Grade
Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the booklet----"At the Fish Shop". The words in the booklet---"At the Fish Shop" are from the story---"Fun With Fish".  Then, the students will read the story "I Am a Butterfly". The "I Am a Butterfly" story is in the third book in the First Grade reading series.
English----The First Grade students will be reviewing----"Naming Yourself Last", "Pronouns", "What a Sentence Is?", "Question Sentences", "Telling Sentences" and "Nouns".
Spelling----The First Grade students will review the spelling words in Units 13-17.
Writing----The First Grade students will be writing their own spelling word sentences.  The students will also be writing their own "Elf" and "Nativity" story.
Math----The First Grade students will be learning about "Tally Marks" and "Picture Graphs".  Then, the students will begin a unit about "Money" . "Rocket Math" worksheets will continue to be done.
Social Studies----The students will learn about "Getting Goods and Services" and "Picture Graphs".
