What'd Happening This Week----September 5th Through September 8th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Oo" makes----keyword----octopus.  Then, the Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Gg" makes----keyword----goat.  The students will learn that the letter "Gg' is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the word----log.  The students will learn how to put the sounds that the letters make together and sound out the word----l--o--g.  The students will also be reading the color words----red, blue and yellow.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letter "Oo" and "Gg".  The students will also be printing their first name.

Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning about the numbers---0--1--2 and 3.  The students will also be reviewing "Sorting". The "Square" shape will be studied.  Then, the "Rectangle " shape will be studied.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will be learning that "God Gave Us the Land".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn the difference between "Real and Pretend" animals.

Social Studies----The students will be learning about "Families On The Move"----Transportation and How Transportation has Changed Over Time.  Then the students will learn about "Families and Change".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will be learning about the sound that the letter "Tt" makes----keyword----tent.

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the story "Ants".  The "Words to Remember"  will be----walk, they and make.  The booklet----"Tim and Pam" will be read. 

Handwriting----The First Grade students will be printing the letter "Tt".

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing their own story about an "Ant".

English----The First Grade students will be learning about "Telling Sentences". The students will learn that a telling sentence has two parts---the naming part and the action part.  Also, a telling sentence begins with a capital letter, end with an end mark and makes sense.

Spelling----The First Grade students will continue their study of the "Short I" spelling words.  The "Short I" spelling words are:  in, pig, did, sit, six and big.  Then, the students will have a review unit.

Math----The First Grade students will learn that the numbers come in an order, so the students will
"Order Numbers 0 Through 12".  Then, the students will "Count On", "Count Back" and learn the terms "Before, Between and After".

Social Studies----The First Grade students will be learning about "Families On the Move"----Transportation and How Transportation has Changed Over Time.  Then, the students will learn about "Families and Change".
