What's Happening This Week-----August 28th Through September 1st

Up-Coming Events:   School will not be in session from Friday September 1st through Monday, September 4th, due to the Church Picnic and Labor Day.  School will resume on Tuesday, September 5th.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Oo" makes----keyword----octopus.  The students will learn the the letter "Oo" is a vowel letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading color words----red and blue.  The students learn to read the color words by "cheerleading" the color words.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letter "Oo" and their first name.  The students are learning how to hold a pencil correctly, how to sit correctly when printing,(feet on the floor, bottom on the chair, and back to the back of their chair), and how to hold their paper with their non-pencil hand while printing.

Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning about "Sorting----by Size, Color and Shape".  The students will also be learning about the #2 and the shape----square. The students say poems to help them remember their numbers and shapes.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn in Chapter 3, that "God Gives Us Water".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about the difference between "Living and Non-Living" things.

Social Studies----The Kindergarten students will continue to learn about our "American Symbols----the Liberty Bell and the Statue of Liberty".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will be learning about the sound the long vowel sound of the letter "Oo"----as in the word "overalls".

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the story "Sam and the Bag" .  The booklet-----"Al and Max", will also be read.  The students will learn the words----come, here, have, I and see.

Handwriting----The First Grade students will be printing the letter "Oo".

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing their own story (sentence) about a cat picture that they will color.  The students will also be writing their own spelling word sentences.

English----The First Grade students will be learning about the "Action Part" of a sentence.

Spelling----The First Grade students will be learning words that contain the "Short "i"sound. This week's spelling words are:  in, pig, did, sit, six and big.  A spelling word test will be given on Thursday, August 31st.

Math----The First Grade students will continue learning number words and doing rocket math worksheets with addition problems.  The students will also learn about "Numbers 10 Through 12" and "One Fewer and One More".

Social Studies----The First Grade students will continue their study of our "American Symbols----the Liberty Bell and the "Statue of Liberty".
