What's Happening This Week August 21st Through August 25th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue learning about the sound that the letter "Ll" makes----keyword----lion.  The students will learn that the letter "Ll" is a consonant letter.  Then, the Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Oo" makes----keyword----octopus.  The students will learn that the letter "Oo" is a vowel letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will continue to learn to cheerlead and read the color words----red and blue.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Ll" and "Oo".  Also, the students will be printing their first name.

Math----The Kindergarten students will be learning how to groups and print the numbers "1" and "2".  The students will also be learning about the terms "Same, Alike and Different" and "Sorting".

Religion----In Chapter 2, the Kindergarten students will learn that "God Gave Us the Gift of Light".

Social Studies----The Kindergarten students will learn about "School Rules" and "American Symbols----the Flag and the Bald Eagle".

Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about the "Solar Eclipse" and "Our Senses".


First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn about the two sounds that the letter "Oo"makes----the short "Oo" sound as in the word "octopus" and the long "Oo" sound as in the word "overalls".

Reading----The First Grade students will review the story "The Hat".  Then, the students will read   the booklet----"Jan's Cat".  Next, the story-----"Sam and the Bag" will be read.

Spelling----The First Grade students will continue learning "Short Aa" words.  Then, the students will be learning "Short Ii" words.

English----The First Grade students will learn about the "Naming Part" and the "Action Part" of a sentence.

Handwriting----The First Grade students will print the letter "Oo".

Math----The First Grade students will be learning "Number Words".  Then, the students will learn about the terms "One More and One Less".

Social Studies----The First Grade students will be learning about "School Rules" and "American Symbols----the Flag and the Bald Eagle".
