What's Happening This Week-----March 3oth Through March 31st

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will begin their study of the sound that the letter "Jj" makes----keyword----jar.  The students will learn that the letter "Jj" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The students will be reading word lists and "Jj" words.  Some of the "Jj" words to be read will be:  jet, jug, jam, jest, jazz, just, jog, job, jot and jump.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Vv" and "Jj".

Math----The students will continue learning about the "Calendar", doing "Addition Problems and writing numbers.

Religion----In Chapter 27, the students will be learning about "Easter".

Science----The students will be learning about "Sound".

Crafts----The students will be doing crafts around the "Easter" theme.

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning about "ow" sound as in "bow" and the soft "c" sound.

Reading----The students will be reading the story----"Busy Buzzy Bee" and the booklet----"Squirrels at Home".  Then, the students will be given their last reading book, in the First Grade reading series----Gather Around.   Then, the story---"The Story of the Blue Bird"-----will be read.

Writing----The students will be writing spelling word sentences.

English----The students will continue to review----"Adjectives, Writing Sentences Correctly, Book Titles, Using Capital Letters Correctly in Names of People, Holidays and Months".

Spelling----The students will be taking a spelling word test over Unit 31's spelling words----after review of these spelling words.  Then, Unit 32 will be started.  In Unit 32, the students will be learning words with the "ow" sound as in bow and the "oa" sound as in boat.  Unit 32's spelling words are:  slow, grow, show, low, blow, snow, boat, coat, goat  and road.  The Challenge Words are:  yellow and shadow.  Then, the Special Words are:  far, year and does.  Unit 32's Spelling Word test will be next Wednesday, April 6th.
