What's Happening This Week-----November 9th Through November 13th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Nn" makes----keyword---nest.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Mm" makes'----keyword---monkey.
Reading----The students will be reading phonics words and word lists.  Some of the phonics words to be read will be:  at, not, nag, tan, pan, ant, mop, ham, mat, an, man, map and mom.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Nn" and "Mm".
Math----The students will be learning the terms----"Before, Between, After"; the "Numbers 1 - 10"; and the "Ordinal Numbers: First to Tenth".
Religion----In Chapter 11, the students will learn that "We Learn About God With Our Families".
Science----The students will be learning about "Plant Parts".
Social Studies----The studies will be learning about "Our Country", "Our World" and "The Pilgrims".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning about----"ng" and "ing"; the "Suffix -ed"; "th" and "dividing words into syllables".
Reading----The students will be reading the stories "Try Your Best" and "Fun With Fish".  The booklet----"At the Fish Shop"---will also be read.
Writing----The students will be writing stories about a robot and a fish.
English----The students will be learning that "Words Can Mean the Same ".  The students will also be reviewing past English lessons---nouns, pronouns, sentences---telling and questions, more than one and naming yourself last.
Spelling----In Unit 15, the students will be learning "st" words.  This week's spelling words are:  nest, fast, stop, must, step, best and  stick. The special words are:  your, their and other.  This week's spelling test will be on Thursday, November 12th.
