What's Happening This Week-----November 2nd Through November 6th

A big thank you to all of the room mothers for such a wonderful Halloween Party----for the great snacks and fun games.  A fun time was had by everyone!!!

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Aa" makes----keyword---apple.  Then, the students will begin their study of the sound that the letter "Nn" makes---keyword---nest.  The students will learn that the letter "Aa" is a vowel and that the letter "Nn" is a consonant.
Reading----The students will be reading the phonics booklet---"Hot, Hot, Hot".  Phonics word lists will also be read.  The students will be making flash cards with the color words ---brown and black----and the sight words---"the" and "a".
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Aa" and "Nn". The students will also be printing their first name and sight words.
Math----The students will learn about----"Left", "Right", "Between", "Before", "After" and "Identify and Write 8, 9, 10.
Religion----In Chapter 10, the students will learn that "God Helps Us to Discover His World" by giving us our gift of our five senses.
Science----The students will be learning about "Plant Parts",
Social Studies----The students will be learning about "Communities", "Our Country" and "Our World",

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning the "th", "ng", "ing", and the "ee" sound.
Reading----The students will be reading the phonics booklets----"Frank From Moss Pond" and "Just One More".  The students will also be reading the story---"Try Your Best".
Writing----The students will be writing a stories about a "Frog" and a "Robot".  Spelling word sentences will also be written.
English----The students will be learning about "Naming Yourself Last" and "Pronouns".
Spelling----In Unit 14, the students will be learning words with "cl, fl, and sl".  This week's spelling words are:  flap, club, flag, slip, clap, sled and flower.  The special words are:  said, her and here.
