What's Happening This Week----October 27th Through October 30th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Aa" makes----keyword----apple.  Then, the next letter of study will be the letter "Nn"---keyword---nest.  The students will learn that the letter "Aa" is a vowel and the letter "Nn" is a consonant.
Reading----The students will be reading the phonics booklet----"Hot,Hot, Hot".  Phonics word lists and color words will also be read.  Some of the phonics words to be read will be:  hat, gag, lag, lap, tag, gap, pat and tap.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Aa" and "Nn".  The students will also be printing their first name and phonics words.
Math----The students will learn about the terms "In Front Of" and "Behind", "Left, Right and Between".  The numbers "9" and "10" will be learned. "Ordinal Numbers----First Through tenth"---will be studied.
Religion----In Chapter 9, the students will learn that "God Made Us".
Science----The students will learn about "Plant Parts".
Social Studies----The students will learn about ----"We Live in Communities".
Crafts and Story Time----These two areas will center around "Halloween".


First Grade

Phonics----The students will learn about  "Spelling with "ck" and "k", "Th" and "ng" and "ing".;
Reading----The students will be reading the stories "Where Do Frogs Come From?" and  "Try Your Best".  The booklet-----"Frank From Moss Pond"  will be read.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letter "Cc", "Kk" and "Tt".
Writing----The students will be writing their own story about a "Frog" and "A Halloween Character".
English----The students will be learning about "Special Nouns" and  "Naming Yourself Last".
Spelling----In Unit 13, the students will learn "dr, gr, tr" words.  The spelling words this week are:  drip, trap, drop, drum, trip, grin and  branch.   The special words this week are:  all, from and do.  This week's spelling word test will be on Thursday, October 29th.
