What's Happening the Week of September 8th Through September 11tth

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will learn the sound that the letter "Gg" makes----keyword---"goat".  The students will learn how to put the sounds of the letters together and sound out the word----"l---o---g".

Reading----The students will be reading the phonics word----log.  The students will continue reading color words.  The color word---"yellow" will be learned, by a cheer.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters ""Ll","Oo" and "Gg".  The students will be printing the phonics word---log---and their first name.

Math----The students will continue their study of "sorting".  The students will be learning about the "square" shape and the number "3".

Religion----In Chapter 3, the students will learn that "God Gives Us Water".

Science----The students will continue their study about "Living and Non-Livings Things".

Social Studies----The students will be learning about "Our American Symbols----"The Flag and the Bald Eagle".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be reviewing the sounds that the following letters make----"Ll", "Aa" and "Zz". The students will also be learning the "ck" sound.

Reading----The students will be reading the story-----"Jack and Rick" and the phonics booklet---"Max and Sam". The following sight words will be studied: want, now, too, oh, they, walk.

.Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Ll", "Aa", and "Zz".

Writing----The students will be writing their own spelling word sentences.  The students will also write a story about a rabbit and a bear.

Spelling----This week's spelling lesson is a review unit.  The following is a list of this week's spelling words:an, bad, can, had, cat, ran, in, pig, did, sit, six and big. This week's spelling word test is on Friday, September 11th.

English----The students will be learning about "Telling Sentences".
