What's Happening the Week of September 21st Thtough September 25th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will learn the sound that the letter "Hh" makes---keyword----hat.

Reading----The students will be reading the phonics words-----"log" and "hog".  The students will continue reading the color words.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters---"l"--" o"--"g" and "h".

Math----The student will be learning about "patterns"----"color, size and shape patterns"

Religion----In Religion, the students will be learning that "God Made All the Animals".

Science----The students will be learning about what animals need to live----food, water, air and shelter.  Then, the students will learn about the life cycle of different animals.

Social Studies----The students will be learning about "Our Earth" and "Globes".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning about the sounds of the letters  "pl", "st", "sp", "sl". "sn", "Ff", "Hh", "Rr" and the "all" word family.

Reading----.The students will be reading the story "All That Corn".

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters-----"Ff", "Hh", and "Rr".

Writing----The students will be writing their own spelling word sentences.

Spelling----In Unit 8, the students will be learning about short "e" words.  The spelling words this week are:  yes, let, red, ten, bed, get and messy.  The Challenge words will be:for they and have.  This week's spelling test will be on Friday, September 25th.

English----The students will be learning about "Which Kind of Sentence?" to use---a telling sentence or a question sentence.
