Kindergarten
Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter Hh" makes---keyword---hat. Then, the students will begin their study of the sound that the letter "Tt" makes---keyword---tent.
Reading----The students will be reading the phonics words----"log", "hog", "hot", "pot", "tot" and "lot". Color words will continue to be read.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters---"Hh" and "Tt". The phonics words will also be printed.
Math----The students will continue learning about numbers 1-5. Ordinal numbers---first through fifth--- will be studied. The students will learn that the ordinal numbers-- first through fifth-- name a position. Then, "patterns"---shape patterns and size and growing patterns, will be studied.
Religion----In Chapter 6, the students will learn about "The Church Year".
Science----The students will continue learning about "What Animals Need to Live". Then, the students will learn about "How Animals Grow and Change".
Social Studies----The students will continue learning about "Our American Symbols"----"The Statue of Liberty". Then, the students will learn about "Our Earth" and "Globes".
First Grade
Phonics----The students will be studying the sounds that the letters "Rr", "Kk", and "Cc" make in words.
Reading----The students will be reading the story----"Dan's Pet". The booklet----"Fix-It Fox"----will also be read. Spelling word poem will be read.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters----"Rr", "Kk" and "Cc".
Writing----The students will be writing a story about a "hen and a chick" and spelling word sentences.
Spelling----In Unit 9, the students will be learning----short "u" words. This week's spelling words are: us. sun, but, fun, bus and run. This week's challenge word is: puppy. This week's extra words are: are, one and there. This week's spelling word test will be on Friday, October 2nd.
English----The students will be reviewing sentences rules, naming part and action part of a sentence, question words and end marks---period and question mark. Then, the students will learn about "Nouns".
