What's Happening This Week----October 5th Through October 9th

Just a Reminder:  The Kindergarten students will be celebrating the sound that the letter "Pp" makes on Friday, October 9th, with "Princess, Prince and Pirate Day".  The Kindergarten students may wear a Princess, Prince or Pirate costume to school on Friday, October 9th or just dress down in dress down clothes, as October 9th is a dress down day.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue learning about the sound that the letter "Tt" makes---keyword---tent.  Then, the Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Pp" makes---keyword---pig.
Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading the phonics words-----got, lot, tot, hot, hog, log, top, hop and pot.  Color
Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters "Tt" and "Pp".  Phonics words and the student's first name will also be printed.
Math----The Kindergarten students will continue learning about "Patterns".  The students will also be learning about the number "7".  The Kindergarten students will be printing the numbers 1-7.
Religion----In Chapter 7, the Kindergarten students will be learning about "Ordinary Time" in the church year.
Social Studies----The Kindergarten students will be learning about "The Earth and Globes".
Science----The Kindergarten students will be learning about how "Animals Grow and Change".


First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will be studying the sound that the letters "Kk", "Hh" make and "spelling with k and c".
Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the story "Boots For Beth" and the phonics booklet---"Ben".
Handwriting----The First Grade students will print the letters----"Kk", "Hh", "Bb", "Dd" and "Gg".
Writing----The First Grade students will be writing their story about a "pig" and "boots".  Spelling word sentences will also be written.
Spelling---- In Unit 10, the First Grade students will be learning spelling words that contain "short vowel sounds".  This week's spelling words are:  him, hot, man, men, top and cut.  The challenge words is:  cabin.  The special words are: has, his and as.  This week's spelling word test will be on Thursday, October 8th, as Friday.October 9th is only a half of day of school.
English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Nouns".
