I want to thank all of the room parents who sent all the nice treats for all of our Kindergarten Classroom Holiday Parties. All of the Kindergarten students had a great time at the Valentine Party. The Valentine snacks were so cute and wonderful What cute decorated Valentine Mail Boxes were brought, to school,for the Valentine's Party!
Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Yy" makes----keyword-----yarn. The students will learn that the letter "Yy" is a consonant letter. Then, the students will learn about the sound that the letter "Dd" makes---keyword----dog. The students will learn that the letter "Dd" is a consonant letter. The students will also learn about the word family "est".
Reading----The students will be reading phonics word lists and phonics booklets. The phonics booklet "Ben is Ten" will be read. Some "Yy" words to be read will be: yam, yap, yak, yell, yen, yes, yet, yelp and you. The phonics word family "est" words will be read. The new sight words "when" and "down" will be learned.
English----The students will continue learning about punctuation marks-----periods, exclamation marks and question marks. The students will be writing question sentences using the question words----where, who,what and when. The students need to use the sentences rules when writing their sentences.
Writing----The students will be writing sentences using question words and phonics words.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Yy" and "Dd".
Math----The students will continue learning about "Addition"-----vertical addition and using the number line to add numbers. "Rocket Math" worksheets will be started.
Religion----In Chapter 20, the students will learn about "Lent".
Social Studies----The students will continue learning about "Abraham Lincoln". Then, the students will learn about "George Washington".
Science----The students will conitinue learning about "Energy----Heat". Then, the students will learn about "Positions and Directions".
Crafts----Crafts will center around "Lent", "Abraham Lincoln" and "George Washington".
