Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Yy" makes---keyword---yarn. Then, the students will begin their study of the sound that the letter "Dd" makes----keyword---dog.
Reading----The students will be reading word lists and phonics booklets.Some of the "Yy" words to be read are: yam, yap, yak, yell, yen, yes, yet, yelp, you, and yum. Some of the "Dd" words to be read will be: dog, doll, disk, desk, drum, and, had, did, sad, slid, hid, mud, red, rid, stand sand and said. The phonics booklet----"I Did It"----will be read. Other phonics booklets will also be read. Sight words will continue to be studied----where, who, what, when, four, one, down, you, from, I, see, look, of, into and to. The sight word "said" will be learned.
English----The students will continue learning about "punctuation marks-----period, question mark, and the exclamation mark".
Writing----The students will be writing sentences with the phonics words.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the lettets "Yy" and "Dd".
Math----The students will continue learning about "Addition". The students are learning how to jump on a number line to help them figure out the answer to the addition problem. The students are also going to learn how to use a ten-frame to figure out the answer to an addition problem. Then, the students will begin a unit on "Money".
Religion----In Chapter 23, the students will learn that "We Pray as Jesus Did".
Social Studies----The students will be learning about our country's first president----George Washington.
Science----The students will continue their study on "Energy----Heat". Then, the students will be learning about "Positions".
Crafts----The crafts this week center around George Washington and the letter "Dd". The students will be making a "George Washington Hat"; doing dinosaur and doll stickers; and dot paint pictures.
Just a Reminder: Next Monday, March 2nd, will be "Cat in The Hat" Day in Kindergarten.
