What's Happening This Week ----February 2nd Through February 6th

On Friday, February 6th, the Kindergarten students will be celebrating the sound that the letter "Cc" makes, by having "Cowboy/Cowgirl Day".  This is a half day of school for the students.  The Kindergarten students may wear their Cowboy/Cowgirl clothes to school on that day.  The Kindergarten students may wear----jeans, jean skirts, flannel plaid shirts, boots and a cowboy hat. The Kindergarten students will be doing many fun Cowboy/Cowgirl related activities, such as----broom stick/horse races; coloring a cowboy hat; doing cowboy stickers; counting cows math worksheets; eating cowboy snacks and other cowboy/cowgirl activities.

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Cc" makes----keyword----cat. Then, the next letter of study will be the letter "Ee"----keyword----elephant.  The students will learn that the letter "Ee" is a vowel. The students will be learning about the word family "an".

Reading----The students will be reading word lists and phonics words.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letter "Cc" and "Ee".

Writing----The students will be writing stories and illustrating them.

English----The students will be using the English rules when writing their stories.

Math----The students will continue to learn about the "Calendar----Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow", "Weight----Heavier and Lighter", "Order of Weight----Heaviest to the Lightest"," Compare Size----Larger to Smaller", "Compare by Length----Longest to the Shortest".

Religion----In Chapter 19, the students will learn that "Jesus Wants Us to Love".

Science----The students will continue to learn about "Matter".

Social Studies----The students will learn about "Ground Hog Day".

Crafts----The crafts this week will center around "Ground Hog Day",' Cowboy/Cowgirl Day", and "Valentine's Day".
