What's Happening the Week of January 5th Through January 9th

I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas .  

I would like to thank everyone for all the nice Christmas cards and gifts.  A great big thank you for the Fairway Groceries Gift Certificates.

I would also like to thank everyone for our very nice classroom Christmas Party.  A special thanks to the room mothers who came to our Christmas Party and helped the students with activities, games and snacks.  A wonderful time was had by all.

This Coming School Week:

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Kk" makes---keyword---kite.  Then, the students will begin their study of the sound that the letter "Bb" makes----keyword---balloon.  The students will learn that the letter "Bb" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The students will continue reading "Kk" words----kiss, kin, kit and ask.  Then, the students will read "Bb" words:  bib, bat, bag, ban, bass and big.  Word lists will also be read.  Then, the students will be reading the phonics booklet-----"The Big Trip".

English-----The students will continue to learn the sentence rules: A sentence begins with a capital letter, ends with an end mark, and makes sense.  Thee students will also continue to learn that a telling sentence tells something and ends with a period.

Writing----The students will be writing and illustrating phonics word sentences.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Kk" and "Bb".  The students will be printing their first and last name and phonics words.

Math----The students will be learning to identify and write numbers from 26-31.  The students will also be comparing these numbers as less than, greater than, or equal to.

Religion----In Chapter 15, the students will learn that God chose Mary to be the mother of His Son Jesus.  Mary said yes to God, to be the mother of God's Son Jesus.   The students will also learn that God wants us to take care of His creation.

Science----The students will continue to learn about "Weather"----windy and rainy weather.  Then, the students will learn what tools help people measure weather-----a thermometer and a wind sock.

Social Studies----The students will be learning about "Charts" and the "Earth".

Crafts----The students will be making crafts that center around the season of "winter".
