What's Happening This Week----December 15th Through December 19th

The students will be bringing home their nap time mats, pillows and blamkets.  Kindergarten nap time is over for the Kindergarten school year.  Please keep your child's mat, pillow and blanket at home.  Thanks!

The Kindergarteb students will be bringing home a Six Flag Read to Succeed Six Hour Reading Club Form.  Please read the information and return the form by Feb. 20th.  The Kindergarten students can use their homework assignments on this Six Flag Read to Succeed Form and also on the Reading Counts form.

Reminder:  Wednesday, December 17th---the Kindergarteners may dress down as their favorite Christmas character----examples are:  Santa, elf, reindeer, characters from the poem---"The Night Before Christmas".

Friday, December 19th, is our Kindergarten Classroom Christmas Party.  Each girl should bring a gift    valued at $5 for a girl.  Each boy should bring a gift valued at $5 for a boy.  These gifts may be brought at any time.  Please mark the gift---"Girl" or "Boy".  Thanks!

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Rr" makes---keyword---rabbit.  Then, the students will begin their study of the sound that the letter
Kk" makes---keyword---kite.

Reading----The students will be reading phonics words, word lists, color words and a phonics booklet.  The phonics booklet is called----"Frog Ran".  Some of the "Kk" words to be read will be:  kit, kiss, raft, kin, and ask.  Some of the sight words to be read will be:  to, the, as, has, I, see and from.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Rr" and "Kk".  The students will be printing their name and English sentences.

English----The students are learning about a telling sentence----"A telling sentence begins with a capital letter, ends with a period and makes sense.  The students will be printing many English telling sentences.

Math----The students will be learning to "Identify and Write Numbers 10, 20, 21, 22, 23,24 and 25.  The students will also be learning how to measure with a ruler.

Religion----In Chapter 14, the students will be learning about "Christmas".  Each Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Science----The students will be learning about "Weather".

Social Studies-----The students will be learning about----"Problem Solving" and "Using Charts".

Crafts----The students will be doing Christmas stickers, decorating cookies, making Playdough Christmas shapes, making a paper plate reindeer and making a reindeer hat.
