What's Happening This Week----November 3rd Through November 7th

Everyone had a great time at the Kindergarten Halloween Party.  I want to give a great big thank you to all the room mothers who sent treats and helped especially those who helped  take the students on the Halloween Walk and at the Halloween Party.  The students especially enjoyed the Halloween games----pumpkin bowling and build a skeleton puzzle .  A big thank you also to the 7th and 8th Grades for making the "Haunted House".

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Nn" makes----keyword----nest.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Mm" makes----keyword----monkey.  The students will learn that the letter "Mm" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The students will be reading the phonics words:  nap, pan, ant, not, nag, tan, an, on, pal, mop, ham, mat, man, mom, map, at, and the.  The students will continue reading color words.  The students will be reading the phonics booklet "Hop on the Mop".

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Nn" and "Mm".  The students will also be printing their first name and phonics words.

Math----The students will be learning about "The Number Line and Number Patterns", "Identify and Write the Numbers 11 and 12", "Compare Numbers to 12", "Order Number to 12" and "Ordinals---First to Tenth".Some of the Hands-On Activities will be:  using magnetic ten-frames and magnetic counters, making number flash cards,using stickers to count 11 and 12 objects, making a number 11 necklace and a number 12 bracelet.

Religion----The students will be learning in their "Growing in Love" Religion Book, that we are made by God and that God made us to love .

Science----The students will be learning about "Plants" and "Habitats".

Social Studies----The students will be learning about "Families and Change----Then and Now" and "Native Americans".

Crafts This Week----The students will be making a paper plate turkey, a sticker turkey, weave a Navajo rug, Thanksgiving color sheets, and make a "Number 11" necklace and a "Number 12" bracelet.
