What''s Happening the Week of October 6th Through October 10th

Tuesday, October 7th will be "Princess, Prince and Pirate Day" in our Kindergarten Classroom. The Kindergarten students may wear their Princess, Prince or Pirate costume to school.  If the Kindergarten student does not choose to dress as a Princess, Prince or Pirate---then he/she should then wear their regular school clothes.  The Kindergarten students will be making a Princess or Pirate hat and a Pirate eyepatch.  The Kindergarten students are not allowed to bring plastic knives or swords to school. 

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Pp" makes----keyword---pig. 
Then, the students will be learning the sound that the letter "Aa" makes----keyword----apple. 

Reading----The students will be reading 4 new phonics words----pot, top, hop, and pop.  The students will continue reading color and number words.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letter "Pp" and "Aa".  The students will also be printing their first name and phonics words.

Math----The students will be learning the number 8 and the color orange.The students will be counting 8 objects.  The students will continue working with "patterns"----"Size and Growing Patterns and Color Patterns".

Religion----In Chapter 8, the students will learn that "God Made Us".

Science----The students will learn "What Plants Need to Live".

Social Studies----The students will learn about----"Needs and Wants", "Water and Land", and "What Weather Is?".

Crafts This Week:  The crafts this week will center around the letter "Pp"----painting pumpkins, making Princess and Pirate hats, Pirate eye patches, scratch wands, Princess and Pirate stickers and much more.
