What's Happening the Week of October 20th Through October 24th

Phonics---The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Aa" makes----keyword---apple.  Then, the next letter of study will be the letter "Nn".

Reading----The students will continue reading color words.  The students will also be reading the phonics words: hat, tap, tag, lag, gag, gap, pop and pat.  Then, the students will read the letter "Nn" phonics words: nap, pan, ant, not, nag, tan, an, and on.  The students will be bringing home, as homework, a phonics booklet to read called-----"Hot, Hot, Hot".

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Aa" and "Nn".  The students will also be printing their first name and phonics words.

Math----The students will be learning about the terms:  "As Many As", "More" and "Fewer". Patterns will continue to be studied.  The number 10 will be studied.  The students will be printing number 0-10 and doing many dot-to-dot worksheets with numbers 1-10.

Religion----In Chapter 11, the students will learn that "We Learn About God With Our Families".

Science----The students will be learning about how plants grow and change.

Social Studies----The students will be learning about the "Earth----Land and Water".

Crafts----The crafts this week will center around the Halloween theme----a paper plate monster, a paper plate bat, a paper plate witch, and Halloween stickers and coloring sheets.
