What's Happening the Week of April 22nd Through April 25th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Jj" makes----keyword---jar.  The next letter of study will be the letter "Ww".

Reading----The students will be reading the first story in the First Grade Reading series.  The story is called----"The Hat".  The students will be doing many reading worksheets that go along with the story----"The Hat".

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Jj" and "Ww".  The students will also be printing phonics words.

Math---The students will continue their study of "Money".  Then, the students will learn about "The Seasons" and "More Time and Less Time".  Then, "Subtraction" will be started.  The students will continue working with "Addition Problems".

Religion----The students will be learning that "We Celebrate Jesus' Gift of Himself".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will learn about the "ine" word family.

Reading----The students will be reading the stories----"Tell Me a Story" and "Little Bear's Friend".

English----The students will be learning about "Titles For People", "Book Titles", "Days of the Week", and "Months of the Year".

Spelling----The students will be taking a spelling word test over the words "Long "i" spelled with "y".  Then, the students will learn words that add an "s".  This week's spelling words are: jet, jets, frog, frogs, tail, tails, week, weeks, gate, gates, wagon, and wagons.  This week spelling test will be on Friday, April 25th.

Math----The students will continue their study of "Money" and "Comparing Lengths".

Religion----The students will learn that "Jesus Gives Us the Eucharist" and "We Celebrate Mass".

Science----Everyone will be learning about "Seasons", "The Sky Above", "What Causes Day and Night" and "Earth's Neighbors".
