What's Happening the Week of March 31st Through April 4th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue to learn about the sound that the letter "Dd' makes----keyword---dog.  Then, the sound that the letter "Yy" makes----will be studied.

Reading-----The students will be reading the phonics booklet----"I Did It".  Phonics word lists will also be read.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Dd" and "Yy".

Math----The students will continue their study of the "calendar".  Then, "seasons" and the terms----"more time, and less time" will be studied.  Addition problems will continue to be done.

Religion----The students will continue to learn  that "Jesus Shares His Friendship With Us".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will learn about the digraph "ea" and  the word families---"ame, ake, and ate".

Reading----The students will be reading the stories-----"A Bed Full of Cats" and "Me on the Map".  The booklet----"Patch's Treat"----will also be read.

English----The students will study----"Opposites".  Then, there will be a review of----adjectives, nouns, pronouns, parts of a sentence, and contractions".

Spelling----The students will continue learning words that contain the long "ai" or "ay" sound.  The spelling words are:  play, rain, say, way, sail, day, mail, stay, may, pain, and today.   The spelling word test over these words will be on Tuesday, April 1st.  Then, Unit 28 will be started.  In Unit 28, the students will learn words that contain the long "e" sound.  Unit 28 spelling words are:  feel, eat, need, read, deep, sleep, neat, keep, feed, and mean.

Writing----The students will be writing their own stories using the characters from the reading book stories "A Bed Full of Cats" and "Me on the Map".

Math----The students will continue their study of a "calendar".  Then, the students will learn about the terms----"More, Less, or Equally Likely".  "Open and Closed Figures" will also be studied.  "Rocket Math" will continue to be done.

Religion----The students will learn about---"We Celebrate Mass", "We Share God's Love", and "We Honor Mary and the Saints".

Science----Everyone will learn about"Natural Resources".  Then, "Weather and the Seasons" will be studied.
