What's Happening the Week of March 3rd Through March 7th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue learning about the sound that the letter "Cc" makes---keyword---cat.  The students will learn that the letter "Cc" is a consonant.

Reading----The students will be reading phonics words that contain the letter "Cc".  The phonics booklet---"Zip"----will also be read. Word lists will also be read.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letter "Cc".

Math----The students will continue learning about "Joining{addition} of two groups".  The students will also be writing number from 1-100.

Religion----The students will be learning about "Lent".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will learn about the sound of "ow" as in the word---"down", "ow" as in "bow", "oa" as in "soap", and "dle" and "gle" as final syllables.

Reading----The students will be reading the stories----"Friends Forever", "The Fox and the Stork", and the booklet----" A Jumping Frog".

Spelling----The students will be doing a review unit.  This week's spelling words are: path, whip, brave, gave, bike, nine, home, bone, tree, and green.

English----The students will begin a unit on "Adjectives".

Writing----The students will be writing their own spelling word sentences, their own "Cat in the Hat' story, and a story, using the story characters from the story----"Friends Forever".

Math----The students will learn about "Open and Closed Figures", "Sides and Corners", and "Solid Figures".  "Rocket Math" worksheets will continue to be done.

Religion----The students will learn about "Lent", "We Are Followers of Jesus" and "We Celebrate God's Forgiveness".

Science----Everyone will learn about how----"Plants and Animals Live Together", "Earth", "Rocks and Soil", and "Changing the Land".
