What's Happening the Week of December 9th Through December 13th

The Our Lady of the Snows Christmas Musical was wonderful.  It was so nice to see so many at our musical.  All the boys and girls did such a great job.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will be learning the sound of the letter "Ss"---keyword---sun.

Reading----The boys and girls will be reading "Ss" phonics words, word lists, and color words.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Ii" and "Ss".  Phonics words and first name will also be printed.

Math----The students will be learning about the terms "as many as", "more", "fewer", and "fewer and most".

Religion----The students will be learn that "We Learn About God With Our Families".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning about the sounds of "or"---keyword "fork", and "sh"---keyword---"shark".

Reading----The students will continue reading the story "Where Do Frogs Come From?".  Then, the students will read the story "Try Your Best".

Spelling----Unit 16 Spelling Test will be given.  Then, the students will begin Unit 17.  This week's Unit 17 spelling words are:  ship, chin, much, chop, wish, shop, shoe, how, now, and our.  This week's spelling test will be on Friday, December 13th.

English----The students will be doing many review workbook pages.  The students will be reviewing ---nouns, naming yourself last, pronouns, what is a sentence, and telling and question sentences. Then, the students will begin a unit on "verbs".

Handwriting---The students will be printing many pages in their "Handwriting Workbook".

Writing----The students will be writing stories about "Christmas Characters-----such as an elf, Santa, reindeer, etc". The students will also be writing a story about "Jesus".  Spelling Word sentences will also be written.

Math----The students will continue their study of "fact families", counting from 100 to 200, and "Rocket Math" .Then, the students will do several workbook pages with "story problems".

Religion----The students will learn that "The Holy Spirit Helps the Church to Grow".

Social Studies----Everyone will be learning about "Goods and Services", "Using Charts", "We Live in Communities", "What is a Leader", and "Using the Calendar".
