Just a Reminder: Princess, Prince and Pirate Day id Tuesday, October 15th. The K-1students may wear their costume to school on that day. The students will be making a princess or pirate hat in the classroom. Many princess and pirate activities will be done ----such as making a princess or pirate hat: playing a princess and a pirate game; dong princess and pirate stickers; sing songs; listening to princess and pirate stories; learning the "ar" sound---the sound that a pirate makes and many activities.
On Friday,October 18th our classroom willbe going on their field trip to the Fischer Pumpkin Patch and a fire station. If your child's permission slip as not been turned in as yet---please return the permission to school as soon as possible. Thanks!!!
Kindergarten----The students will continue their study of the sound that theletter"Pp" makes. Then, the students will begin their study of the letter "Aa" sound--keyword---apple.
Reading----The students willbe reading color words, phonics words and a phonics booklet called---"Hot, Hot, Hot".
Hnadwriting----The students willbeprinting the letters "Pp" and "Aa". Phonics words and the students first name will also be printed.
Math----The students willbe learningthe terms---infront of, behind, left, right and between. The students will also be using "pirate money" to count and do many addition problems.
Religion----In Chapter 8, the students willlearn that "God Made All People".
First Grade
Phonics----The students will be studying the sound that the letters "Hh" and "Rr" make. The students will also be learning the "it " word family and the "Pirate sound "ar".
Reading----The students will be getting their second reader in the First Grade reading series. The students willbe reading the story "Dan's Pet".
English----The students will be reviewing what a sentence is----a telling and a asking sentence. Then, a unit on "nouns" will be studied.
Spelling----In Unit 11, the students will be learning words that have a "nt" or "mp" in them. The spelling words this week are: ant, jump, tent, lamp, bump, went, pants, want, or, and were. This week's spelling test will be on Monday, October 21st.
Writing----The students will writing sentences that contain "nouns" and "spelling words".
Handwriting----The students will be printing pages in their "Handwriting Wrokbook".
Math----THe students willbe learning about "patterns in additon problems" and "adding doubles plus one". Many addition and subtraction worksheets will be done. "Rocket Math" will be continued.
Religion---In Chapter 5, the students will learn that "Jesus Teaches Us About God's Love".
Social Studies----Everyone will learn about "Christopher Columbus" and the "Different Kinds of Water and Land" on Earth.
