What's Happening the Week of December 17th Through December 20th
Phonics---The students will continue their study of words that contain the letter "Rr"----keyword----rabbit. Then, the students will begin their study of words that contain the letter "Kk".
Reading----The students will be reading phonics word lists and color words.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Rr" and "Kk".
Math----The students will be learning about tally marks, tally charts, picture graphs, and pictographs.
Religion----The students will be studying in their "Growing In Love" Religion Book, that "we can share God's love", and "we are helpers".
First Grade
Phonics----The students will be learning about the sounds of "qu", "ch", "x", and "ir".
Reading----The students will continue to read the story of "Tomas Rivera". Then, the students will be reading the story "On the Way to the Pond".
English----The students will be reviewing "contractions". Then, the students will be reviewing verbs and sentence rules.
Spelling----In UNit 18, the students will be reviewing past spelling words. The spelling words this week are: drip, grin, club, sled, fast, step, egg, miss, chin and wish. This week's spelling word test will be on Thursday, December 20th.
Handwriting----The students will be printing a page about Gabriel and A Guardian Angel.
Writing----The students will be writing their own story about "The Little Christmas Tree", "Your Guardian Angel", and a story about the characters from "On the Way to the Pond" story.
Math----The students will continue doing subtraction problems using a number-line. The students will also be learning about "Fact Families". "Rocket Math" worksheets will continue to be done.
Religion----The students will learn that "our parish members help us to grow in God's love" and "making good choices".
Social Studies----Everyone will be reading the "Time For Kids" magazine.
