What's Happening the Week of November 5th Through November 9th

Everyone had a wonderful time at our K-1 Halloween Party.  A big thank you to everyone who sent treats for our party.  A special thank you for the room mothers who bame to our party and helped with the snacks and games.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the letter "Nn" and it's sound---keyword---nest.  Then, the letter "Mm" and it's sound keyword---monkey---will be studied.

Reading----The students will be reading "Nn" and "Mm" words.  Color words will also be read.

Handwriting----The students will be printing their first name and the letters "Nn" and "Mm".

Math----The students will be reviewing ordinal numbers---first through fifth: and the terms ---in front, behind, left, between, right, before and after.

Religion----In Chaptet 11, the students will learn that "We Learn About God With Our Families".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be studying the digraph "th", suffix "ed", digraph "ee", and letter "Uu" words.

Reading----The students will continue their worksheets from the story, "Where Do Frogs Come From?".  Then, the students will be reading the story, "Try Your Best".  In the story "Try Your Best", the students will be introduced to many "or" words.

English----The students will be learning "Naming Yourself Last", "Pronouns", and "Words That Mean the Same".

Spelling----In Unit 13, the students will be learning words that contain the sounds "dr", "gr", and "tr".  The spelling words are:  drip, trap, drop, drum, trip, grin and branch.  The extra words are:  all. from, and do.  This week's spelling test will be on Friday, November 9th.

Handwriting---The students will be printing the letter "r", the "Grace After Meal Prayer", "Glory to the Father Prayer", the "Simple Act of Hope and Love Prayers", and a sentence about the "Ten Commandments".

Writing----The students will be writing their own spelling word sentences.  The students will also be writing their own story, using the characters from the story, "Try Your Best".

Math----The students will continue working with numbers 60-100.  Then, the students will be writing the place value of the digits and then put the numbers in the expanded form.  "Rocket Math" worksheets will continue to be done.

Religion----In Chapter 11, the students will learn that "The Holy Spirit Helps the Church Grow".

Social Studies----Everyone will be learning about "Using Picture Graphs", "Vote Counts", and "Needs and Wants".  The "Time For Kids" magazine will also be read.  The students will be learning about "Healthy You!".
