What's Happening the Week of October 29th Through November 2nd

Our Halloween Party is on Wednesday, October 31st.  Then, Friday, November 2nd is a half day of school---out at noon.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will learn the sound the letter "Nn" makes---keyword---nest.  The students will be doing many 'Nn" worksheets.

Reading----The students will be reading "color words".  A word list will be sent home to be practiced.

Handwriting----The students will be printing their first name and the letter "Nn".

Math----The students will be learning about "number patterns", "identifying and writing the numbers 11 and 12".  Dot-to-dot worksheets will continue to be done.

Religion----In Chapter 11, the students will learn that "We learn about God with our families". 

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning about the digraph "ng" and the suffix "ing".  Also, the students will learn about the digraph "th", the suffix "ed" and the digraph "ee".

Reading----The students will continue doing worksheets that go along with the story, "Where Do Frogs Come From?".  The booklet. "Frank From Moss Pond", will be read.  This booklet contains "The Words To Remember" from the story "Where Do Frogs Come From?".  Then, the story, "Try Your Best" will be read.

Spelling----Unit 12 is a review unit.  Thie week's spelling words are:  went, ten, men, jump, box, bus, on, got, fun, man, pop, and yes.  This week's spelling test will be on Friday, November 2nd.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "v", "O", and "z".  The "Before Meal Prayer" and the "Hail Mary" Prayer will also be printed.

Writing----The students will be writing a story about the life cycle of a frog.  In their "Life cycle of a frog" story, the students must use the words---first, next, then, and last.

Math----The students will continue learning about the "ones and tens" place, and numbers 20 through 89.  "Rocket Math" worksheets will continue to be done.

Religion----In Chapter 10, the students will learn that "Jesus sends the Holy Spirit".  The "Holy Spirit" is the Third Person of the Holy Trinity.

Social Studies----Everyone will learn about "Using Directions", "Maps", "Using Picture Graphs", and "Vote Counts".  Also, the "Time For Kids" magazine will be read.
