Kindergarten
Phonics----The students will begin their study of words that contain the letter "Ss"---keyword---sun.
Reading----The students will be reading many phonics words containing all the letters of study thus far. Phonics word lists, color words, and many "Ss" words will be read.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letter "Ss" and their first name. Phonics words will also be printed.
Math----The students will be learning about the terms "as many as", "more","fewer", and "fewest and most". The students will learn how to equalize a set, and to write and identify the numbers 17, 18, 19 and 20.
Religion----In Chapter 15, the students will learn that "We Honor Mary". When we honor a person we give that person special attention.
First Grade
Phonics---The students will study words containing ----"a consonant e", "o consonant e", "u consonant e", "i consonant e", and "e consonat e". Contractions will also be studied.
Reading----The students will be reading the story, "I Am a Butterfly" and the booklet "Baby Chick Hatch". Through these stories the students will be introduced to the "tch" and the "ch" sound.
English----The students will be learning about "verbs".The students will also learn to add an "s" to a verb when it tells about a noun or a pronoun that names one.
Spelling----In Unit 15, the students will study words that contain the letters "st". The spelling words this week are: nest, fast, stop, must, step, best, and stick. The extra words are: your, their, and other. This week's spelling test will be on Friday, November 30th.
Writing----The students will be writing their own story using the characters from the story "I Am a Butterfly". The students will also be writing their own spelling word sentences.
Handwriting----The students will be printing pages about the "Holy Family" and the "Our Father " prayer.
Math----The students will be adding two digit numbers---adding ones and tens. Odd and even numbers will also be studied. The students will be counting by 5's and 2's. "Rocket Math" will continued to be done.
Religion----In Chapter 15, the students will learn that "We Belong to a Parish".
Social Studies----Everyone will learn about----"We Live In Communities", "Carrying For Our National Resources", "Being a Good Helper", "People Get Along" and "People Follow Laws".
